There was a documentary about Ferris Bueller on A&E recently. It showed pictures of a ton of deleted scenes and even some deleted characters, like Ferris and Jeannie's 2 younger siblings.
It also mentioned that there were thoughts of putting together a sequel but Matthew Broderick never quite got on board for it so John Hughes didn't see the point of ever writing a script. Matthew seemed to have regrets about that.

Ah-ha! So this is a sequel people seem to be excited for, if it happens!
I figure, if it's not a hint at a sequel.. the public response and interest could spark something. And if it's a commercial, kudos to Broderick for making us smile again.

Totally believe it is just a creative commercial for the Superbowl, but as Ronnie mentioned it could possibly lead to a long awaited sequel. Might not quite feel the same without John Hughes penning the sequel.. but if most of the original cast returns .. I'm totally interested!
Of course, this breaks my 10 year rule on sequels .. so I'm still a bit worried about how it will all go. But transforming Ferris to the business world of Chicago seems like a brilliant idea.

You know somthing funny, I've had this idea for years. Everyone always said, how could you make another? I always said, why not use his powers to get out of work and maybe get a raise in the process. You could even make Alan Ruck his co worker.

Well it most probably will be a nice commercial but Ferris 2 without John Hughes? No thanks. Save Ferris, indeed.

Well, this has reached news status..but I'm with most of the population on this one. I really think it's just going to be a Superbowl Ad, nothing more.

I know some will not like this but found the original ok. Seeing the sequel if there is one is not at the top of my list.

There are over 24 references to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" hidden in the commercial.. some are easy .. several you will need to pay close attention to notice.

Ok while it's not a new bueller sequel, I loved that ad, put a Hugh smile on my face, thanks Valley for the link to the full version. I think I got most of them.

Thanks Cowboy! I wanna thank Paul and Ronnie for alerting me to this awesome commercial opportunity.
Did anyone else noticed that the youtube link already has over 3 million views! I'm thinking Ferris Bueller might be taking a day off to go to the movies soon.

Save Ferris? Save us from the chance of a terrible squeal that will be nothing more than a cash in because the Studio Executives know there are people out there wanting a second film and it will just turn out to sully the first. No to a sequel or second film. Lets be happy with what we have and also lets not fuel Broderick's lack luster career by giving him the opportunity to ruin one of a handful of good films he made. Attempting to remake Ferris Bueller in a car commercial, is a shameless cash in by both parties.

Nice find these ads are a good laugh for us Ferris Bueller fans. But the only way I'd ever back a sequel was if Matthew Broderick was desperate for money (which I doubt, since he lives clean and has probably done quite well over the years). Otherwise, there's no need for it at all. The Ferris Bueller story, for me, ended exactly where it should have: it was about youth, defying the system, getting away with it and understanding why it was necessary to have done so. The only Hughes film that I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel to is 'The Breakfast Club'.

If Broderick was desperate for money? That's terrible reason, if it was done for that reason any old rubbish would be churned out for the sake of milking money out of it. No Hughes, No Way.

I thought the commercial spot was clever and done in great taste and tribute to the style of John Hughes. In reflection, while not totally opposed to a sequel, I agree that at this point without Hughes behind the writing, I'm less interested in a full length feature film.
Has anyone searched the attic of Ferris's house where I'd bet Hughes hid it?

Although I am not really into sequels I got to admit I did get a little excited when I first saw it. If hollywood decide to try and cash in and make it I just hope some one who worked with Hughs in the past like Chris Columbus directs it
