A..i love werewolf movies cos they care the hell outa me B...has anyone got a little gem worth talking about (atomik you usually have something tucked away in the back) C...great debate
My vote is AWWIL over any other. Its cinemaphotography for its time and the sheer fact its BRITISH (enter Logan cheering) makes it an almost certainty for a head turner when introducing a werewolf movie to your 1 yr old or mother in law with a bad heart!!
Just like to know what you think, as i know there ARE people on this site who do not agree that American werewolf in london is the most (debatable) best werewolf movie of the 80s and indeed EVER of all time....iv got my reasons but before i argue and play my trump cards i would loveto hear what you've gotta say...the floor is open, the soap box is free and the mic is on....

havnt seen company...but have seen silver bullet and has that feel ur talking about Atomik...its underrated in my opinion as far as (as you say)created atospehere. Im not sure its just the raw look to it, but silver bullet definately has my vote...it would make a top 5 list and The Howling has got many a scene which is chilling which scrapes in at number 2...i watched a documentry not far back about make up and the work that went into creating the howling werewolfs was astonishing...very simple but tedious work to produce such a terrifying beast. Im going to check the above metioned out now.

awwil 2 is an absolute joke!!! I watched it knowing it would just not live up to any expectation and it had a final destination feel to it -meaning - it was just a simple visual joy ride but without the visuals and without the joyride...sooooooooo bad. why o why was it ever made....and such a long time later

i enjoyed eric reds 1996 werewolf movie bad moon starring michael pare and mariel hemingway,ok it might not quite be in the same league as some of them that have been mentioned but it's still good fun!
i agree the soundtrack for aawil could not have been better, fits the movie like a glove!

I'm not a big fan of werewolf movies, so I have to go with Silver Bullet. It's one of my all-time favorite movies.

OK, so this is actually a movie about shapeshifters and not werewolves. But so what, I still think it's a good film worth mentioning here. It's more a love story than a horror movie. And not as good as the book it's based off of. But I still like it. It gets bonus points from me too cuz they shot the shapeshifting scenes with REAL wolves.

Been trying to start my Halloween movie watching and tonight is finally the night....might just start it off with Wolfen, which I have, but haven't seen. A given, but AWIL is my fav....love the feel of that movie.
Don't forget about the original Wolfman, and the recent remake with Benicio Del Torro (SP?). I also love me some Underworld....holy moly...I love you Kate!

An American Werewolf in London is by far the best.
If you buy it now on Bluray it looks fantastic and there is also quite a good doco about the movie which I believe goes for longer than the movie itself.
John Landis + Rick Baker + Jenny Agutter(had to throw her in) = Best horror/werewolf movie ever.

I own Wolfen but haven´t watched it yet. I also have Bad Moon and it´s a decent flick. Written and directed by the legendary Eric Red (The Hitcher, Near Dark, Cohen and Tate, Blue Steel and Body Parts)
Dog Soldiers is great!
Never seen the other movies mentioned here. The Beast Within could be a good one.
