This one has been on my need-to-watch list for a while now, simply because of its awesome title. I mean who wouldn't want to watch a movie called Neon Maniacs? I have a weekly movie night with my friends and we're always looking for the next great bad movie.

john, neon maniacs would be ideal for a bad movie night,it will definitely give you and your friends some good unintentional laughs but be warned overall it was a bit of a stinker!
i owned the anchorbay region 1 dvd release for about 3 months before selling it on to some poor schmuck on ebay for good money!
maybe i missed something because some people have called it a hidden gem, someone else went as far as calling it the best horror film of the 80s,but i'm sure they were both watching different films.
put it this way i just showed my wife your link to the trailer and her initial reaction was "oh my god not that thing",she also had the misfortune of sitting thru it with me and has not recovered from it yet!

I feel like a poor schmuck for having bought this E-bay..
Nah, i'm just kidding.. but i do own that same Anchor Bay release, and Young Warrior said it correctly.. it is a bit of a let-down. I like my cheezy 80's b-horror flicks, but this one wasn't really that special.
Try Future Kill instead.. That one is way more fun !

i also own future kill johnny roarke on dvd and also prefer it to neon maniacs, watched it originally on vhs here in the u.k where it was known as night of the alien,it was heavily cut, about 2m 30s,the region 1 dvd i have is fully uncut .
another one you could add to your bad movie night john kreese is alien predators or mutant 2 as it is known here in the u.k http://youtu.be/t_mautB3GhY .
can't remember much from it but as bad as many people say this one is i'm sure i quite enjoyed it when i watched it way back!

Thanks guys. I've kind of heard the same thing about it. We actually don't watch that many "bad" movies, but I'm always on the lookout for the next Zero Boys or No Retreat No Surrender.
Lately we've been on a classics kick: The Apartment, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, Petrified Forest, Sunset Boulevard, Ninotchka, 12 Angry Men, etc...

aTomiK, if you're going to watch Neon Maniacs, just keep your expectations low. The movie isn't complete garbage.. it starts out pretty decent with lots of 80's fashions and styles, but after the first 20 minutes or so, it just runs out of steam, i guess. Somewhere midway i lost interest, and the climax wasn't really that exciting.
I like The Zero Boys though.. that would make an awesome double-feature with Future Kill.. i'll bring some beers !

Directed by Joseph Mangine, known more as a cinematographer (Alligator, The Sword and the Sorcerer etc.) and written by Mark Patrick Carducci (Pumpkinhead).
Lots of teens in this one: pretty ladies and cool dudes. Starring Clyde (Alan) Hayes (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter), Leilani Sarelle (Shag, Checkered Flag), and Donna Locke as the horrorfreak kid. Too bad that gorgeous Amber Denyse Austin got killed so soon.
The soundtrack was awesome. Nice soft rock tunes, some disco and synth beat and even one heavy rock song.
Cool kills, wicked and cheesy monsters, Gremlins/Nosferatu/Blade Runner posters... Fun stuff!
I have this Danish VHS tape which was uncut.
