I'm actually watching this for the first time ever right now....of course i've seen pieces before. I really don't know how it escaped me???

I live in the ol Pacific Northwest nowadays.....so it is awesome to see the scenery.

I keep thinking it feels so much like an episode of Amazing Stories....makes me want to watch them all over again!

notice: check out Muffy's Amazing Stories thread lol

They just had an awesome way of doing "creature muppet" movies back in the 80s

Harry and the Henderson's is on ondemand for free too!

Good film, saw it in the cinema back in '87. In Europe, they called it 'Bigfoot and the Hendersons' because the concept of 'Harry' might not travel [Wink] though this is one of the few movie title changes I actually agree with.

Great work by Kevin Peter Hall ('Predator') as Harry.

And yes, there was a short lived spinoff sitcom with Bruce Davison in the John Lithgow role.

So true! I was watching The Mummy 3 yesterday, and those abominable snowmen were some of the crappiest CGI I have ever had the misfortune of seeing... [Embarrassed]

Seriously, I could have drawn more convincing yetis on microsoft paint!

It looks fake, it feels fake, and it takes you out of the movie.

Why not just stick some tall dudes in some animatronic creature suits? It looks 100 times more real, and it has an organic and tangeable feel to it.

Im so sick of CGI. The movies become more of a study in computer graphics than it does about the story and characters, and it makes me not give a **** about the whole thing!

Yes, I am a cranky old man, revolting against modern technology. So maybe I should just move in to a shack in the woods, write a manifesto, send "packages" to various film companies, and wait for my brother to turn me in to the feds [Roll Eyes]

"Harry and the Hendersons" is an outstanding family movie with a great message. I seriously remember feeling bad about our society's treatment of animals after watching this movie.

John Lithgow is brilliant as the father and Melinda Dillon was a great mom in several movies including this one.

In fact in the scene where Lithgow's character complains to Dillon that as a boy when he asked for artist's paints for Christmas that his dad gave him a BB gun ... it was clearly a reference to "A Christmas Story", where Melinda Dillon played Ralphie's mom.

But Harry is definitely the real star of the movie and his facial expressions were just so good. Especially during the scene when Lithgow still viewed Harry as an animal and almost shot him. Excellent scene that makes you think as a kid.

I'm in agreement with Kash though.. "Bigfoot and the Hendersons" is a much more appealing title to someone that has never seen it.

John Lithgow´s first not very common family [Cool]

I own the VHS tape and watched the flick with my son couple of months ago.
It´s a nice family creature movie.

Totally agree with JAY LEE about the modern day CGI craziness.
It just leaves you cold.

Bigfoot... was released on dvd here last month
and i´ll probably get it after the price goes down a bit.

I agree Jay Lee!!

I can't wait to see if the new Muppet movie does well with new audiences?

Sometimes the cg stuff is just too unbelievable and maybe the fact it's a real person in a suit adds heart. You guys saw the new article about this new cg movie coming up that has been doing bad in test audiences for looking tooo realllll. It freaked people out almost grossed them out?

Harry was great! I finished it. Was talking to one of my friends about how I just watched it and he said "they point it out during the Ducks tour boat" and my other friend teased him like crazy for saying he'd road the ducks. hahahaa
