Just watched Neighbors and man it was good! Directed by John "Karate Kid" G. Avildsen.
I saw the film once in the 80s and i remembered that it was too weird and boring. The thing was, i just didn´t get it then. Well, now i "got" it and it´s really funny movie with great performances from the cast involved.
Belushi is awesome in his last role on earth and Aykroyd is having a blast and looks weird with his blue contact lenses. And what about Cathy Moriarty, veery sexy
First i thought that the cartoonish Bill Conti score was a bit too much but in the end it fits perfectly.
This was a surprisingly succesful movie, keeping in mind that there´s pretty black humour on offer here Budget: $8,500,000 Gross: $28,732,057 (USA)
I´m glad that i still could find the OOP Finnish dvd.

I have been meaning to watch this again for a while. I remember seeing it when I was about 15 and thought it was great but have not seen it since. It's on my to watch list.

My best friend made me watch it in the 80s and I loved it. I then made my husband watch it in the 90s and he looked at me like I was crazy. Theres definatly a required taste for it, I think. Either you "get it" or you dont.
My favorite scene is the one with the dirty coffee cup. Hahaha

While pretty good, it could have been better had the filmmakers listened to more of Aykroyd and Belushi's suggestions on how to work the story; indeed, things got so bad on the set that Belushi openly let it be known that he genuinely wanted to kill Avildsen several times, and flipped over the producer's desk in frustration at one point. Still, as an earthly swansong, it works well enough, and shows a reasonable amount of the range he could have delivered if asked.
