Rambo 1,2,3, Rocky 3,4, Cobra, Over The Top, Tango And Cash etc.
VS
Conan, Terminator, Commando, Predator, Red Heat etc.
In terms of sheer output and box office revenue, I think Sly was one of the biggest stars of the 80's!

Arnold Schwarzenegger did well in the 80's and held on through the 90's and was the most bankable actor during those decades.
Stallone did well in the 80's but dwindled as time passed. Just recently trying to jump start his career.
Tom Hanks broke into stardom in the 80's but did exceptionally well in the 90's and continues to make theatrically released films
Harrison Ford was a versatile actor and did well through 3 decades 70's/80's/90's. Very much like Michael Douglas.
Eddie Murphy was another 80's hit but dwindled as time passed and made more family friendly films. By far the most profitable SNL alumni to make films.

i wasnt thinking in terms of box office hits, more like the amount of really likeable movies that each actor has. in my opinion tom hanks 80's stuff was boss.
you could make a case for michael j fox, popular tv show, the back to the future movies, teen wolf

I Think that 1990 should be counted as the 80's so Total Recall can go toward Arnold's list.
And The Bonfire of the Vanities, and Joe Versus the Volcano can go toward Tom Hanks.
So in my book Hanks would have.
1. Splash 2. Bachelor Party 3. Big 4. Man with one Red Shoe 5. Volunteers 6. Money Pit 7. Dragnet 8. Turner & Hooch 9. Joe Versus the Volcano 10 Bonfires 11. and finally one of my two fav flims of all time the Burbs.
Where as Schwarzengger
1. Conan the Barbarian the other fav of all time 2. Conan the Destroyer not bad 3. Red Sonja though it's been awhile 4. Commando 5. Raw Deal 6. Predator 7. Running Man 8. Red Heat 9. The Terminator 10. Twins 11. Total Recall
Unless I missed one it seems they are tied for me.

That's crazy. I was actually gonna give you that exact quote before.
"Well Mr.Thompson, that's really quite a list and I think if I really apply myself I can be a totally changed person by the time we finish lunch."

Jack, I just meant that I have not seen it in a long time but liked it a lot when I have watched it. I guess I didn't word my post very well.
I will have to track it down again. Usually once I like a movie it stays with me.
This is a movie I saw on TV in the late 80's and then I completely forgot the name of it, and it eluded me up until the late 90's and caught it playing on cable. I vowed never to forget the title again. It's very difficult to track a movie down when you don't know the title and don't have the internet.

Blasphemy!
Ok, are we talking box-office or just good movies? Because box-office can be measured, but lists of good movies become subjective and this could go on for a while. Besides, almost every 'good' 80's actor has at least 2 movies people love.
I think Harrison Ford was the biggest box-office actor in the 80's. Arnie was bigger on the crossover from the late 80's - early 90's, but I think Ford still wins for the 80's.

Lomax I agree with you, I always hate it when I see a fragment of a movie which catches my attention and then the movie is gone, no title to go on, no characters just an image. Years later you watch it and say that looks familiar, but is that what I saw or not? It disapears into your hazy memories, the more you try to recall it your brain begins making stuff up to compensate for the lack of details and then you end up not being able to recall it when you see it, because you've made it into somthing else.
It's like this nintendo game I played when I was younger, no matter how many games I see the cover of or watch a playthrough on youtube I can't find out what it was.

logan, its not based off of box office success, its the amount of likeable movies
