"The Pink Ladies Pledge to act cool, to look cool and to be cool , till death do us part, Think Pink!"
The original movie version of "Grease" starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta will forever be known as a classic movie. It has been released many times on DVD and Blu Ray, and the soundtrack is still getting played on the radio.
However, "Grease 2" has not attained classic status, at least not to the general movie-watching public. Most people who loved the original movie couldn't stand this sequel...Maybe it was becuase John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John weren't in it, maybe it was the soundtrack, I don't know.
There is a group of people that love it though, and I am one of them. I will even go as far as to say that I like it better than the original! "Grease 2" was released in 1982 so it has much more of an 80's vibe to it than the original did (even though they're both set in the 50's, you can still see a difference). Songs like "Cool Rider," "Girl for all Seasons," and "Who's that Guy" are so much more fun to me than say..."Beauty School Droupout." Plus, Grease 2 just seemed more romantic to me...And of course you gotta love that reversible Pink Ladies jacket!!
So, I know I might get flack for liking this movie, but I know there are some pink ladies on this board that appreciate this movie as much as I do!

That would be me!!!! a pink lady times dos!
As soon as I saw your title I was singing......I actually often sing it joking and waving my hands like i'm on top of a ladder hahahaa and the people that know what i'm doing are the cool ones
It has the cheese I love of 80s movies and honestly an awesome cast and sdtrk. Grease is cool but it's 70s and feels it a little.....I know it's set in a different decade........but the cheese that is Grease 2 is more lovable and I agree with Veronica it's more romantic......there is a chemistry that isn't "broadway" like the original Grease.....don't get me wrong because I do love Travolta.
GREASE 2 is AWESOME!

Saw this in the theater, had the soundtrack lp-lol! I thought Maxwell Caulfield was super cute, I remember thinking it strange his wife was close to 20 years older than him. Definitely a movie only a young teenage girl could love!
The first Grease was one of my all-time favorites movies. Had a scrapbook, the trading cards, was Sandy for Halloween-you get the picture!

Valley, you will become a Grease 2 fan one of these days!
Bamersy, it's good to see you around here again! I always thought Maxwell C. was so hot too! Even when he was supposed to be dorky in the movie he was still way cuter than any of the T-Birds.

and muffy, i know exactly which part you are doing...the hand gestures...ha! i love it.
veronica hit the nail on the head.. it does have that cheesy 80s feel to it, though it's supposed to be a bit after the first grease...which i do love has well.
this movie just missed my top 20 but had we had a top 25, this would be in it!
i watched it a lot as a kid. and i remember being in preschool, playing on the playground with some friends and we were running around singing "let's bowl"....haha.
when i would watch it, i thought michelle pfeiffer was so cool and beautiful in this movie. and the scene where she turns her pink lady jacket inside out, was always the coolest because she looked so awesome when she did that..
i also thought maxwell caulfield was handsome!
as for the soundtrack, i love it..it's one of my favorites. the opening tune, "back to school" was done by the legendary four tops. when the kids sing "reproduction" in class, that scene always looked fun! haha
but the song "do it for our country" cracks me up. a teenage boy trying to get "some"..haha totally 80s.
see? i can go on all day about this movie.
valley - my daughter and i were watching this movie (she loves it too) and i pointed out lucinda d.ickey to her, because she loves the breakin movies. she thought that was pretty cool.

I'm definitely a Grease 2 fan!! I was working at a theater when it came out in 1982. Saw it many times. Bought (and still have) the sountrack LP! Have the DVD!
I know it's cheesy and silly but so was the first Grease! 20-somethings trying to be teenagers. Ridiculous!! But lots of fun!!
@ Valley...Lucinda D1ckey is one of the dancers in many scenes. A couple of years before starring in Breakin' and Breakin' 2!!!

Another interesting fact about this movie and soundtrack is that for the song "Do It For Our Country" Sharon's (Maureen Teefy) terrible vocal performance is completely absent on the soundtrack version of the song....and for good reason! That woman just could not sing!! They should have dubbed her in the movie!!!

sharon's voice is definitely annoying throughout the movie haha, she whines in almost every scene.
i forgot to mention that i completely agree about the romantic aspect of it.. michael chasing after stephanie, desperately trying to win her over... i love that.
i always like the feel of this movie too.. all the scenes with all the students at the school, the halls, the talent show rehearsals, the classroom scenes.. and the luau at the end!
i saw a broadway production of grease (part 1) when i was a teen, the show came to my town and adrian zmed was playing the lead role of danny zuko!

Ronnie, my Mom saw the broadway production of Grease with Adrian Zmed and I remember being sooo mad that she didn't bring me with! She got to meet him after the show and she said she told him how I much I loved Grease 2, and he laughed and said he had a great time making it.
I watched this movie over and over when I was growing up...I think I drove my brother crazy between the repeated viewings of this one and Dirty Dancing!

I'm starting to feel like your brother.. btw.. I just ordered it!
I really think it is cool that so many of you love "Grease 2".. I think my problem is that I grew up a huge fan of the original film .. so I never fully gave "Grease 2" a chance until today.
Thanks for everyone's input!

'Adrian Zmed'. There's a name that can't be said enough.
I'll come out for the guys that like this movie. I've said in other threads that I saw it before Grease, and liked it more for a while. In the long run Grease won me over as a better movie, but that doesn't detract from Grease 2 being lots of fun. I think (as I've said before) that this movie's Achilles heel is its name. Has to be said, even though Maxwell and Michelle were great in their parts, Maxwell didn't have the greatest voice in the world! (Yes, I do like 'Charades', but two leads in a musical - neither one a singer?!)
I'll also step in with a defence of Maureen Teefy - I like her! She was a staple of my youth thanks to her appearance in this, 'Fame' and 'Supergirl'.

i remembering forwarding my vhs tape through the 'charades' part when i was little but i love that part now. and that song was not on the original soundtrack, that i know of.
i remember my mom watching the soap opera "passions" when i was in high school and the lady that played a witch on the show, was the one married to caulfield. there was a soap opera awards show that they attended together and i remember freaking out when i saw maxwell, then my mother mentioned they were married. interesting!

OK...this goes no further than here....I'm a Grease 2 lover too! Seen this tons of times as a kid, so I think that has something to do with it.
A funny fact....Grease is my wife's all time favorite movie and she made me watchit at least 20 times.....she won't watch Grease 2 with me....not even once!!

Yeah... not a fave. And at the risk of beating a dead horse... the T-Birds in this movie had some distinctly homosexual undertones. Just sayin'.

My copy of "Grease 2" arrived today.. so after reading everything above.. my thought is that it is best enjoyed by:
Watching it in a sound proof private room all alone with a remote control in my hand to fast forward through several of the musical arrangements.. .. got it!
Anything else? .. T-Bird jacket and a Mr. Microphone?
btw.. should this Maxwell Caulfield quote concern me:
"Before Grease 2, I was called the next Richard Gere... then after Grease 2, nobody would touch me."
Grease 2 is the word!
