Truthfully I don't think too many care for Parts 2 & 3, which just don't have the same sense of discovery and delight the original does (certainly no Limahl doesn't help either).

It was released in the mid 90s--very quietly. And for good reason: no Atreyu, no Limahl, no regards for the previously established series logic--certainly no approval from Michael Ende, who hated the first one anyway--badly redesigned Falkor and Rock Biter. Even though Jason James Richter makes a pretty good Bastian, and Jack Black at least is passable in his first film role as the villain, best to just pretend it never happened.

I love the original and watch it at least once a year. Also brings back fond memories for me because I saw it in the the theaters at a very young age. The title song is great too.

The song "Neverending stooorryyy! Gets stuck in my head everytime I read the title! I actually was not a fan of this one. The effects were a little weird to me, I don't think I could even sit through it again...

I really like the first one, even now I am still mesmerized by my favorite scenes in the film all those involving the Southern Oracle. One day i shall have two large sculptures made like that to put in my garden, and puts some lights at the base so they can alternate between colors.

My mate was obsessed with Tami Stronach. Completely obsessed.
Apparently Noah Hathaway (Atreyu) is now a tatto artist living The Netherlands. I wonder if he has got any cool Neverending story tatts.

I have just the first, which for me is enough, and I delight in it when I watch it.
I have never read the novel, but.
The title song by Limahl and Beth Anderson is the icing on the cake.
