Watched Dream to Believe aka Flying aka Teenage Dream yesterday. It was a very cute and good little teen/dance/sport movie.
It was directed by Paul Lynch (Prom Night, Bullies) Starring Olivia d'Abo, Keanu Reeves, Jessica Steen, Rita Tushingham and Renee Murphy.
Olivia is so cute and her training scenes rock. If there was a 3 hour Olivia d'Abo workout dvd made in the 80s, i would by it in an instant. Reeves is also good and i knew that i had seen Jessica Steen before. And yes, she played Linda Metcalf in one of my favorite 90s tv-series "Homefront" (1991-1993)
I love the soundtrack, lots of awesome tunes! While the end credits say that soundtrack album was released on cassette and compact disc, i don´t know if there really ever was one.

I want to back aTomiK and Muffy up on this movie. It is actually perfect if you are a fan of the gymnastics and the Olympics.
I'm not a huge Olivia d'Abo fan, but she is cute and sweet in this film and you just have to cheer for her to succeed.
The tunes from the 80's and the gymnastic dance routines remind me of "Heavenly Bodies" in how they make you want to get up and workout to them.
Keanu Reeves sports some serious 80's lost (for a reason?) outfits throughout the film. The one above is a gem.
Oh and Jessica Stein has always been one of those flying under the radar actress that you recognize, but might not quite remember from what film. For me it was from "Armageddon" where she played kickbutt Shuttle Pilot Jennifer Watts.
I will say that when the security guard starts lipsynching while Olivia d'Abo works out .. it felt a little awkward at first. Well, until I realized I was doing the same thing! ha
"Shall we dance?"
And this is for fans of Meri D. Marshall from the movie "Valet Girls".. do you think she actually made the tune "Flyin' High" for the film "Dream To Believe" instead?
Still not convinced to seek this movie out?
How about a couple of tunes to listen to while you search for it:
Now back to the Olympics

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Cynthia Rhodes from "Staying Alive" and "Dirty Dancing" played Olivia d'Abo dance double in "Reason To Believe aka Flying".
Rhodes contributions to the feel of the film during the multiple montages that take place in "Flying" should not be undervalued. The warehouse scene, the tumble off at the drive-in, and the blistering energy of the final floor exercise wouldn't have been the same without Rhodes in my opinion.

Wow, never heard of this, and I thought I had seen most of the older, obscure Keanu stuff. Looks great, mega 80s!!
