Ok I bought it on a vhs spree awhile back and finally watched it.........of course i'd never heard of it?? It's a very young Winonna playing a country girl who goes to live with her mother that had abandoned her in Texas.
It's got a weird storyline and sometimes your like "what's happening?" haha
It's not great by any means but somehow I watched all of it.....because of Winonna and Lowe......I went into it thinking Lowe was gonna be the hunk that sweeps her off her feet......nooooooooo, Lowe plays a teen with a mental disability....so if you can suffer the movie as a whole it's worth it for that!

This is the only 80s Lowe flick that i don´t have and that i´ve never seen. What was Debi Richter´s role in the movie?

So now i'm intrigued about a movie she's in called Promised Land (1987) with Meg Ryan, Jason Gedrick, Tracy Pollen, Kiefer Sutherland....that apparently was one of the first films to go to Sundance....hmmmm it's on Netflix instant watch....

Richter is great and yes, Promised Land could be interesting movie. I own 5 Debi flicks but not Promised Land.

Forget the Square Dance and head to the Promised Land..
I rented it years ago.. thought it was decent, but rather depressing.. so not one that I ever revisited, but you should definitely seek it out for the cast. I was also intrigued by the 'based on a true story' claims..

Square dance, yes that was hard to get though, don't think I ever finished it. I bought it for Winona. That's about it.

Rob's performance in the film earned him a Golden Globe nomination as Best Supporting Actor for his work.
