Starting May 28th, re-runs of Jem will be airing on The Hub channel! I LOVED this series when I was a little girl. I had a few of the dolls and some other acessories too. I think I always secretly loved the Misfits more than the Holograms
There are DVD sets of Seasons 1-3 available but they are out of print and very expensive so it will be cool to be able to watch these episodes again without paying an arm and a leg. Posts: 731 | From: Racine, WI | Registered: Dec 2003 | Site Updates: 0

As a young boy in the 80's, i'm not sure why I had such a fascination with the JEM cartoon. But I did nonetheless. The reason might not be too far off from why I dug the Melodia character on the SILVERHAWKS cartoon about the same....
What can I say? The New Wave/Punk chicks in these cartoons were just awesome! And yeah, I always dug The Misfits over Jem & The Holograms too. Plus they wrote better songs..hehe. I'm glad they're putting this show back on...I'll definitely be watching.

While I never truly seeked out "Jem and the Holograms" .. I have to admit that the show was a guilty pleasure for me. If it was on.. I watched. ha
Of course, after Pyro & Muffy suggested it and Ronnie included Stormer as part of her 80's fashion .. maybe I should have paid more attention to the Misfits.
I've mentioned this before, but my favorite character in the movie "Satisfaction" is Billy played by Britta Phillips. So it was really cool to find out years later that she did the musical vocals for Jem.
Here's a neat interview by Britta about Jem and her career:

Valley, I really like Britta Phillips a lot. She did a CD with the lead singer of the band Luna and her voice sounded awesome on it. Thanks for sharing that interview!

While in many ways the series shows its age when seen today, perhaps having tied a little too much into the music video craze, it's still quite good (and proof of the truism that even if a 80s cartoon was marketing a toy clearly aimed at one sex, the show itself would usually try to appeal to both sexes and generally succeed). The songs are mostly pretty good, as are the stories, so what more can you really ask for?

I completely forgot about that 'Satisfaction' movie that Britta did. I saw that movie a long time ago when it played on the movie channels. I always thought she was cute in the movie, a bit crazy, but cute. I'll have to bring myself to watching it again some day.

I loved this cartoon. I wanted the dolls, they came complete with flashing earrings and a music tape....never got one though deprived.
When Muffy came to visit me, she brought me Jem magnets....I also have a Jem t-shirt. I must be 'Truly, truly, truly outrageous'

Well... British. Which I guess is the same thing. Soooo many great toys that were really hard to get hold of over here. Remember when supermarkets over here only sold food? That whole 'Target' / 'Walmart' mentality hadn't kicked off yet.
Now that I think about it... the 80's sucked!

No, no, Logan....you could get them in Woolies....no one ever bought me one...and I only had one my little pony and two care bears.....that was practically destitute in girl toy terms.

That's always a positive sign. The more we can get today's kids to appreciate what we liked back in the day, the better the shows prove to be.
