There was a vast amount of great cartoons in the 80's. And if you were a cartoon junkie like me, then there are still many you enjoy watching. So let's discuss some of our favorites. For me personally, I was mainly a fan of the action/adventure/fantasy type.

My favorite shows included:

M.A.S.K.
The Real Ghostbusters
Sectuars
Visionaries
Voltron
He-Man
Dragon's Lair
Thundercats
Silverhawks
Astro and the Space Mutts
Dinosaucers
Tigersharks
Transformers
Chip & Dales Rescue Rangers
C.O.P.S
Garfield & Friends
Heathcliff
Count Duckula
Inspector Gadget
Robotech
Robocop
The Mighty Orbots
Denver, The Last Dinosaur
Dennis the Menace
Captain Caveman
...(ect)

So, did anyone else like any of these shows? What were some of your favorites?

Oh, and here's a cool little site I found if you're having trouble remembering some of your favorites:

Pretty much any cartoon was fair game for me back in the day. Moreover, it's certainly a tribute to how well they were crafted back then that most of them still hold up wonderfully today; even those created then to specifically sell toys work well on their own in hindsight. If I had to pick a top 10:

1. Ducktales
2. The Real Ghostbusters
3. Inspector Gadget
4. Turtles '87
5. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
6. Thundercats
7. Dragon's Lair
8. Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats
9. My Little Pony and Friends
10. Dennis the Menace

Aside from the ones already mentioned, a few of my favourites were:

The Mysterious Cities of Gold
Dogtanian and The Three Muskehounds
Ulysses 31
Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors
Godzilla
Plastic Man -- which I ordered online last week, and received in the post today.

 -

I haven't watched any of it yet.

I almost bought that Plastic Man DVD set too when I saw it in a music store. If only I had the extra cash to blow I would have. Everyone has all listed some great shows.

While it is a 60's cartoon, it managed to get a lot of air time in the 80's. I used to love it:

woke up in the middle of the night last night, (around 4am or so), to find inspector Gadget being shown on a random channel. Why can't they have a better time slot...i love that show.

what gives with the boomerang chanel anyway, all they show is hanna barbara, which is good, but where is the visionaries, or silverhawks or dinosaucers, eek the cat, why arent these shows in the programing, what is holding them up.

and the tick, why is the region 1 dvd version incomplete compared to the region 2. i am considering a move to the uk
