I have a feeling that most of us here own at least one computer!
Is yours a brand name, or a clone? Did you have it made? How old is it?

I'm just asking coz I upgraded to a new laptop this week, making it 5 computers we have in the house (there are only 2 of us here!) My desktop is used solely for watching and recording TV, the other desktop is Sean's and lives in the computer room. We each have our laptops, only I now have 2!

I have leased my old laptop for the last 4 years and this week it was finally time to upgrade. I've gone from a HP with a P4 CPU, 80Gb hard drive and 512 mb to a new HP with a Centrino Core 2 Duo, 640Gb hard drive and 4Gb ram with 1Gb video, TV Tuner, bluray and N wireless. 17.3" of course, my old one was 17" and I can't go back.

Best of all, because I work in a computer store, I get a great discount both on the price of the laptop and the leasing costs... I only have to pay $55 a month for the next 3 years, and I can claim my payments on my tax because I use it sometimes for work.

Stitch...I don't know much about computers. Me and my wife have always shared one...it's a Compaq Presario...512MB memory (I recently trippled that..I think), and 160 GB hard drive...or so it all says on the sticker in the front! Serves us pretty well...she does some graphic design stuff which requires lots of memory, so that's why we upgraded. Other than that...e-mail, ebay, facebook, pictures, 80's Rewind [Wink] , banking and some downloading...that's about it.

i have a few stationary computers. For now i'm using a dell inspiron 6400 laptop from an electronic shop garbage dumpster.Amazing what people throw away..A few hours work, and it's good as new.Not much for gaming or serious graphic work Of course, but great for surfing around the web.

Dee, you'll love wireless, I can't imagine I used to have cables dragged all through the house!

Pettyfan and Bandit... "Dell" is a four letter word in my part of the world, they are the enemy. If someone comes in to our store for help with their Dell computer, we just laugh at them and tell them they can only get help from Dell coz no one else is interested!

My father built my desktop for me from scratch. 160GB hard drive with 2GB of RAM. Intel 3.21GHZ processor which makes this baby lightning fast as hell. 22" Viewsonic LCD monitor and Lexmark all-in-one fax, printer, copier, scanner. Kick a$$ Creative speakers with a huge kicker bass box. Wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. Also have 2 dvd/cd burner drives and a floppy drive. Oh, I also have a 500GB external hard drive to back up my precious music collection. This baby is fully loaded! I have to thank my father. Basically he built me a $3000 pc and it cost me about $800.

I am spoiled when it comes to computers. I am most definitely a Mac Head. And yes, I have been once to Mac World!

Work: 8-Core Mac Pro with two 2.66ghz quad core intel xeon, RAID card and the IT department got me one of the best graphics cards they could find. Ask me, and I will say "I dunno". Not sure the size of my killer monitor, but I run duels with a Wacom Cintiqu 21 inch tablet. Yes I get to draw right on the screen!

A work laptop, macbook pro

A 17 terabyte server to store all my DNG images.

Home: POS (Piece of..well you get my point) desktop dell...someone thought it was a killer deal and got it for me. I cried, not tears of joy I might add! A macbook pro, and a factory standard quad core mac pro. And of course you cant forget the mini computer the iPhone! Love it!

Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, all right. We got 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some f-ing muscle.

Oops sorry that was Wooderson talking about his car in "Dazed and Confused".

I do about 90% of my postings with my iPhone now. I still have a landline based relic, but it might need to be dusted off before I can use it again.

Valley,
Do you have the new 3GS? And how long do you get on a battery life? I can maybe play on the net for 3 hours tops and it dies.

EJ..Thanks for pointing out that my iPhone is a relic as well. I don't have the 3GS, but highly recommend the iPhone. My battery lasts about 5 hours on the web. But I'm not a huge surfer..

I have chargers everywhere though..my car has a built in iPod adapter as well.

Aeon Flux
Beowulf
Clone Wars
Dune
Fifth Element
HitchHikers Guide
Tomb Raider
Mars Attacks
Ratatouille
Transformers

and the trailer for the new TRON movie - looks brilliant!
