Wasn't really sure if this was the correct board for my topic, but since it's not decade-specific, I figured I'd give it a go.

Anyway, I was just wondering if there are any fans of the western out there on the Rewind. In the last few years I've come to appreciate the genre much more, and here are some of my favorites:

The Shootist
3:10 to Yuma (2007)
Unforgiven
Magnificent Seven
True Grit
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Searchers
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

What are your favorites? Any suggestions for me?

YeeeeHaaaa....I was waitin' for dis one. I love love love Westerns...used to watch the old Westerns on TV with my folks on Sunday afternoons. My favorite is "High Noon". James Stewart and Gregory Peck were in tons of Westerns back in the day...I like "The Man From Laramie" and "The Big Country". More recent..."Young Guns" of course. Plus, my favorite Westerns on TV are "The Rifleman" and "Have Gun Will Travel" *My wife will watch 80's movies with me...but draws the line for Westerns [Frown] * I'll dig out my DVDs saturnchick and give ya a good list...I have about 20-30 Westerns.

Open Range
3:10 to Yuma (2007)
Young Guns

My parents watch Encore Westerns channel all the time, and I've just started to really appreciate them.

I also have to add I LOVE anything with Roy Rogers.

Great movie from likeable lunatic Nick Cave; John Hustons such a good actor that I never recognise him in all the other films he's been in. The ending was a bit frustrating but a good western from down under.

I never really liked westerns much ....especially the old ones. Not sure why, just didn't. Tombstone, Young Guns, and Bad Girls were decent for me though.

Yes! I hear that The Proposition is one great western...I'll have to make a point of renting it, or watching out for it on TV.

Thanks to everyone for the lists so far - I'm familiar with a lot of the titles, and eager to start digging into them. Keep 'em coming!

Kev - I'm looking forward to your list! =)
