In the 80s I didn't like VH1 because I didn't like the kind of music they played. Now it seems like VH1 is all about "reality." Now, I love a good episode of Celebrity Fit Club. I've watched Hogan Knows Best. Then came Flavor of Love, which I didn't watch, and Breaking Bonaduce, and now there's Bret Michaels, Rock of Love. What will VH1 think of next? Didn't VH1 stand for Video Hits 1? So where're the videos? Oh, I guess during the top 20 countdown, or late night/early morning. Then comes reality and 50 million episodes of the "Fabulous Life of..." to fill up the rest of your day.
Has anyone else thought about this? Or am I the only one pondering what type of reality VH1 can think of next?
Here's a thought...pick up "Rockstar" from CBS.

i think all of us have thought about it and noticed that both MTV and VHI are crammed with reality tv shows... hardly playing any vidoes unless it's the top 20 countdown. even then, do you only get a small snip of the video. but i honestly don't care for a lot of the "top 20" songs from today. so i don't see videos at all, pretty much.
i do watch hogan knows best (but not faithfully) and i have begun watching the scott baio show, which is only supposed to last 8 weeks, if i recall correctly. but other than that, i think that reality tv is in our faces on almost every channel these days.
does anyone watch regular soap operas anymore?
btw, on A&E channel, the 2 coreys reality show will debut sometime soon.

I think Mtv plays way too much rap. Whatever happened to pop or rock and roll? What a drag...

I too miss the videos. I love some of VH1's programming, Best Week Ever, I love the 80s, even some of their reality. But I find it hard to believe that an hour or two of retro videos late at night wouldnt be a hit. Maybe 10-12 on friday play classic 80s or even 90s videos. Hey they could even call it Friday Night Videos ! Maybe licensing is the issue... but I for one have been searching for a nice collection of 80s music videos and havent found ANYTHING ANYWHERE. Sigh.

Every Saturday and Sunday morning VH1 Classic plays 4 hours of 80s videos. You can record them for later if you like. Another place to look is on ebay or google.

man, I just called my cable company (Insight) and I don't think they offer VH1 Classics at all. That's a shame.
But hey thanks for the web site! They have a lot of great videos/stuff there!

You can check ebay or google to see if anyone is selling videos. I know I've seen them on ebay before.
I can't believe they took away your VH1 Classic!
I hope you find something.

ok im excited. I was in denial and refusing to believe I couldnt get VH1 Classic, so I called insight again and this time spoke with a different person. Turns out for a mere 13 additional dollars a month I am getting digital cable. Digital Music radio, and a BUTTLOAD of additional channels including VH1 Classics!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah!

Glad to hear you are getting an upgrade Phanstar!
Answer to Ronnie (Nowheregirl) question:
I still watch regular soap operas, or rather All My Children. I have been watching it religiously for 2 years. I watched it in the late 80s and early 90s and then lost touch with it.
