Just wondering if anybody still has drive ins in their town / city. There are actually only a few left in Atlantic Canada, thankfully, with one being in my neck of the woods. I absolutely love going to the drive in with my wife. I am worried, however, that there is currently a lot of development in the same area, and am just waiting for the news that they are closing it down for good....I may even chain myself to the big screen in protest if it comes to that day. I have so many great and current memories at the drive in...a really big part of history. My brother actually worked at the drive in when I was younger...I got in for free, but would have to go an hour or so early and sit there until it got dark...then we were always the last to leave, becasue he had to close down. They always play two movies in a row each night...I musta seen every single movie at least twice. Anybody else a drive-in fan?

I can't tell you how much I miss drive-ins. Just another indelible part of my youth lost to time, I guess. We had the Kam drive-in here in Hawaii, which opened back in 1962. They ended up closing it down in 1998. Everybody in Hawaii misses the Kam. The strange thing is, it's still there. They've continued to run the swap meet there since the theaters closed and haven't ever developed the property besides. I don't see why they don't just open it back up. It always did a good business.

There's still one about 12 miles north of here, although I haven't been to it for a show in about a decade or so. Apparently it still does brisk enough business, as there have been no rumors of it shutting down at all.

Our drive in closed in 1996 when the cinema opened. I loved the drivein, my mates and I would put a couch in the back of the ute and sit up in comfort!

There's one about two hours from my house that's only open in the summer. It does really good business. I've never been but I'd love to go. I loved the drive-in when I was a kid. I remember seeing Happy Birthday to Me and Used Cars as a combo deal.

I used to go all them time in my hometown. The closest one to me now is about 45 min. away. We used to go every Sunday in the summer, and sometimes if we didn't have enough money for both the admission and beer, we'd sneak in, and meet our friends who brought the beer in their cars. But then they started parking a car by the exit, so if we had to sneak someone in, they had to go in the trunk!

We've hardly got to go the past two years...our little fella is almost three...we tried taking him once last year...hmmm...didn't go so well...maybe as he gets a bit older we can pull it off. Both mine and my wife's parents actually don't mind babysitting for overnights...but we usually save those occasional overnight tickets for going out with friends for some drinks...I know what you're thinking....why don't we just drink at the drive-in....well I did....15 YEARS AGO!!! It'd probably look pretty strange calling a taxi to pick us up in the middle of the drive-in.....
