I didn't realize it had been 15 years ago since Kurt Cobain shot himself. Time has really flown by. I think he actually shot himself on the 5th but wasn't found until the 8th. RIP Kurt. It's odd how you rarely hear anything on this day considering how he was held in the spotlight for the short amount of time........

He's still very highly regarded. I remember when and where I was the day I heard he was dead. At the time I couldn't believe it, and to this day I can't`listen to Nirvana's music without these heavy feelings/emotions coming out. He was a one of a kind artist who sadly we'll never know what else he could have done wether it was music, art, literature, etc.

All good points. I think Nirvana would have broken up. From what I've read and saw, they were going to anyways. They had already been tapped to headline Lollapalooza that year even before Kurt's death. I still think Kurt would have done something other than music like art or literature as mentioned. Has anybody else saw some of the documentaries they did on debating whether he truly killed himself or was murdered? Both sides pull out some strong and interesting points. Part of me thinks he did it but part of me feels Courtney knows more than what she's said. I've even heard that the Foo Fighters "I'll Stick Around" was wrote about Courtney. I know she and Grohl had bad blood between them for a long time.......

He was always commendable for championing other artists and underappreciated bands like Wipers, Melvins, Vaselines, etc. I definetly would have seen him maybe set up his own label or something had he lived. Might have done some solo records too, the possibilities were endless. He always wanted to do some un-Nirvana stuff like work with Michael Stipe and such. Over the years I have read and watched as many documentaries and theories as I have come across. There was definetly some stuff that didn't add up after this death like the fingerprints on the gun, the tremendous amount of heroin in his system, and who was using his credit card hours after he died, even the suicide note containing different writing. But looking at his addictions, his outlook on life and fame, turbulent relationship with spouse and bandmates and the tragic family history of the Cobain's it was never far fetched that he did it. Courtney will always be a bone of contention, although I think her volatile, manipulative personality certainly didn't add years to Cobain's lifespan, I just find it hard to believe she could plot something so heinous on the father of her child. But seeing the train wreck she has become since the death sometimes you have to wonder how much she knows.
The beef with her and Grohl has a lot to do with the publishing royalties and decisions for reissues and stuff. His thinking was that Courtney wasn't even a Nirvana member, but she thinks she is. Did anyone see the About a Son/Michael Azzerad documentary or the Gus Van Zant film?

I think former Nirvana bassist Krist Noveselic ran for Congress out of WA one year. Everything I've read said Kurt had entirely too much heroin in his system to even be fully functional enough to pull the trigger but who knows. I was watching a special on REM several years after the suicide and Stipe said he was trying to do some sort of song(s) with Cobain in an effort to help him get off heroin. They had even talked about Kurt flying down to Athens, Georgia for awhile. Sadly it never came to fruition. I also heard that Kurt was seated on a plane with Duff McKagan of G n R fame and they discussed each other's addictions. Days later Kurt was found. Duff said in a way he felt guilty because he didn't try to help. I feel Frances was more deserving of the royalties than that walking drugstore Courtney. Hopefully she had something set up in a trust.......

Kurt Cobain is a 90s legend. There's a lot of circumstantial evidence linking Courtney Love to Cobain's death, maybe one day we'll know the truth. Its similar to the George Reeves case in many ways.
There's this great documentary with unheard audio interviews recorded by music journalist Michael Azerrad. 'Kurt Cobain: About A Son' is taken from hours of off-the-cuff commentary by the 'Nirvana' front man. Film doesn't work as a proper documentary, but the interviews are excellent. Cobain was just the man on the street, an average, affable self effacing stoner in a coffe shop, he just happened to be a musical genius as well.
