I'm sick to death of trying to help people, and getting kicked in the face.
My sister in law was on Facebook saying that she had a poem published on www.poetry.com. It was nice poem, but I happen to know that it's a scam website. So I let her know that they "publish" everything they recieve online, then try to get money out of you to buy books or CDs or plaques with your poem on it.
The next thing I know I'm getting abused by her and my brother, saying I'm jealous and I have nothing better to do than cause misery... when I was just trying to help.
Me and her haven't always gotten along, so I thought she might appreciate some help from me. Last time I do that.

What you were saying was probably true, but creatives have to be let down lightly. Although I imagine you were only trying to help; it probably came across as if you meant she had no discernable talent, and the only reason they carried her piece was to make a quick buck.

I have posted poems on poetry.com myself too. Only to later find out that it is indeed a scam site. I don't think you were in the wrong in telling her in a blatant way that it is a Scam site. You were only trying to help and I'm sure if she had decided to send them money she would have felt worse about getting ripped-off. Just explain that to her in a mature way and I'm sure she'll come to understand what you were trying to do.

Wait til she finds out for herself that you were right and that she was wrong then hit her up for dinner.

I have seen those things too, because my friend writes poetry, and she's really awesome at it too, but you have to go through the right places.
I think you were being a good brother for trying to help her from getting scammed...she'll come around, don't feel bad, because you know in your heart you were trying to do a good thing for her.

Hey, I saw a poem at poetry.com that I know was stolen... Something about a man from Nantucket...
Stitch,
Let it go it's not worth the fight. I go through this with my family. In the end, you never can truly win...
