They are having a liquidation sale going on until the middle of March, my son said some stuff is up to 70% off. I know they sell movies, but I haven't gone to check their prices...has anyone been to one? Any good buys?

The one close to me was packed big time Sunday as we couldn't even find a place to park. What happens if something is bought that tears up later on?

Wow, the economic problems seem to be hitting America so much more than Australia. As some of you know, I work in a big electrical/computer/furniture chain store called Harvey Norman, one of Australia's biggest businesses. This past xmas, for my store at least, was massive! Definately the biggest xmas in the 5 years I've worked there.
I think a lot of it has to do with a cash giveaway the government ran late last year. Families recieved $1000 per child, and people on pensions and disability recieved $1400. It seems that most people have done what the money was meant to do - be spent in the retail sector to re stimulate the economy.
My partner and I split the money 2 ways - I insisted that half of our $1400 go on bills, while the other half was spent on a PSP, a PS2 and a bunch of games.
Although funnily enough, our only competition in town, Retravision, closed down. The company as a whole is going strong, but for some reaason the local store was failing, and closed up just before xmas. Actually I'm not suprised, when you hear that if anyone came in with a computer problem, they would send them to us, saying "those nerds can help you better than we can!".
I insist that I'm not a nerd. I'm not smart enought to be a nerd!

I bet that everything is priced "as is" and no returns, since there won't be anywhere to return it to.

No Circuit City close to me. We have an HMV store at the mall which is closing down in one week...everything is 25% off....yesterday I bought Halloween 6 for $8....
A "Future Shop" is opening soon...they seem to have a decent DVD selection...but I'll miss HMV's 2 for $10 deals....

Future Shop? I'm guessing that's where you can buy products that haven't been invented yet.
Sorry guys, I've noticed my sense of humour is a bit whacky today... I'm at home sick and on strong painkillers for a couple of days, so who knows what I'll come up with!!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!

Stitch- You got the Out of Luck part right, but my version was a different word other than sorry. hehe.
We had stimulus money given out here. I think it was $600 per every tax paying adult and $300 per kid. Apparently we need more stimulation than that. Who knows what people bought over here...probably beer.

Caveat emptor - Let The Buyer Beware.
basically you pays your money and takes the risk. Thing is, if they are only asking two bucks for a 42" plasma tv, then who's complaining?

I had a feeling that's exactly how it would be. When it comes to electronics you never see them dropping the price by alot. I am sure if they don't sell everything to the public, they have other companies that will buy it from them.
