So what's everybodys winter or summer(in Stitch's case) been?
Here in Bismarck we've been experiencing our worst winter in about 12 years.
North Dakota has been long known for harsh winters but for the past twelve years we haven't received much snow or been that terribly cold. It seems whatever snow we did receive would be followed a couple days later by a warm spell that would melt all the snow so we never had snow pile up over that time.
Well things have changed this year. The average snowfall for the entire winter here is about 35 inches. So far this winter we're at 60 inches and we're only in the middle of January with a good 2+ months of snowy weather to come. We're already at our 15th snowiest winter ever. We also haven't had too much warm weather to melt away what we've received so they're running out of places to put it after plowing the streets and parking lots. Also makes walking on the sidewalks difficult with the uneven walking surface due to all the snow and people unable to keep up with the shoveling.
This morning our temperature dropped all the way to -44, yes that's 44 BELOW zero.
But thankfully starting tomorrow we're supposed to have our first warming trend in quite sometime with the mercury to rise in the +20's with a stretch of days in the +30's so we should finally see some of this snow melt and hopefully the start of a more pleasant winter.
Now if I only could get over this stomach flu I've been fighting for 5 days.

It has been really cold here too, but not that cold. I talked to someone the other day in Minnesota and they said it was 20 below.
I got gas in my car yesterday and my hands were frozen. We took a ton of bread down to feed the ducks at the park, they were so hungry. It is so cold to even be outside for a little bit.
I was suppose to go get my hair cut this morning, and couldn't get out of the driveway.
There's ice everywhere.
I wanted to go snowtubing this summer at a ski resort, but it's too cold to go out.
I love being in my house, and making soup and baking cookies when it's cold.
I can't wait for spring.

Only two days of snow, a little frost and icy roads, and that was it! I think most people think of Scandinavia as some kind of frosty, northern tundra like place... but it is not. Can't speak for Sweden, Norway etc. But here (thanks to global warming, or what ever it is)the weather has changed immensely over the last decade or so!

We haven't had too much snow, but it has been very, very cold. This morning it was snowing, so we had a two hour delay for school, but it was still so cold and the roads were frozen. I'm not sure why they didn't send us back home. I'm scared to death to drive on snow or ice, but like an idiot I traded my four wheel drive Jeep for a cute lil' Mustang, so I either have to take my mom's four wheel drive or ride with one of our other teachers.
Sam, I couldn't imagine that much cold or snow!!

This week has been frigid here. Temperatures have been -25 and -35 with wind chill. We've had a lot of snow and storms of late as well.
When it's like this, all I want to do is hibernate in my apartment and come out when warmer temperatures happen.

we've had a few freezing nights, but nothing too major - just some frost on the ground early in the morning, that's it.
i can't imagine icy roads and snow.. i hate snow.

I just can't imagine cold tempuratures like that, especially -44 for you Sammy, it's just unfathomable.
We've finally hit a hot spell, the summer had been fairly mild until this week, but now it's HOT! Wednesday was a scorcher at 43C (110F), and we've had a week of Total Fire Bans in my area. The humidity has been bad too. Yesterday it looked like a storm might be coming, but nothing eventuated. There's nothing like a January storm - the only problem is if lightning starts a fire.

We've been fortunate here so far but tonight the temps are supposed to be the lowest they've been in four years. I'm already ready for spring and summer I hate the bitter cold. I'd still like to see a little snow though to make up for dealing with the cold temps......

Heard a little more information on that -44 we had this morning. That was the coldest Bismarck has been in 59 years and one degree off the coldest all time temperature for the city. Keep in mind that the -44 was air temperature not wind aided. I've seen wind chill temperatures in the past around -80. But then again I've also seen it as hot as 115 here.
North Dakota probably has the biggest extremes of temperature than any other state.

School was closed here too. It is 2 degrees here now. I have no plans to leave my house for the day.
I can't imagine what 44 below even feels like, it seems like if you walk out the door, you'll freeze and turn in to a human popsicle.
I have no clue how people ever survived...hundreds of years ago, without electricity, and good heating.

what a difference a little over 24 hours makes. Yesterday morning around 7am we were at -44 and now this morning at 9am we're at +9.
Still probably won't go out today though; still fighting the same flu I've had all week. Might have to go to the store real quick for more Pedialyte.
One crazy note about how extreme North Dakota can be is that the coldest temperature ever recorded in the state and the hottest temperature ever recorded in the state both happened in 1936.

We had a super crazy storm on New Year's day..whole county pretty much shut down. Temperatures have been normal -10 ish, but the last couple of days we've hit a cold snap...-38 with wind chill...even though the roads were fine, they cancelled school due to extreme temperature and risk of frost bite...chilly chilly....

It was in the mid 40's here today. Everyone and their brother was at the car wash today. I was 7th in line to wash my car. It did feel like spring was coming. All the snow is melting.
I have to say that I absolutely have cabin fever. I can not wait to get outside. I think January has flown by ...usually it seems to drag on forever.

I agree. This month is flying by so fast I can't believe it. Usually Jan. and Feb. drag for me too, but this is weird. I'll be on the golf course in no time I hope!

Hang in there bud! These long winter months are depressing as hell for me too at times. I need spring/outdoor activities!

Me too...I hate how everything looks...no flowers...I love working on my landscaping...our pond is frozen and we can't see our fish, and we turn the pump off on our waterfall for the winter...it just seems so barren.
I hate not being able to sit outside on my front porch or my balcony.
I swear I get that seasonal disorder...I hate getting out of bed in the morning....I feel tired all the time...like someone drain all energy out of me. I hate been closed in the house.
I am pushing for spring to get here so badly.
I tell myself every winter...to appreciate the summer more each year, because it comes and goes so fast....when I was a kid it seemed to last forever.

Today's the warmest we've been here for about 50 days. currently we're sitting at 39 degrees. Feels nice to have some windows open and let some fresh air into my apartment. My cats also like the fact that they can go out on my balcony.
