I know a lot of cool people I have encouraged to join this site, but hardly any do or have stuck with it. Have you tried to get your wives, hubbies or partner to join? Or is that too much?

My husband has no interest in joining...he never spends time on the computer...except at work. He works 6 days a week. Some days he works 12 hour days, and he does 1 hour of driving every day...so he is tired when he comes home. He knows all about the Rewind...sometimes he'll come in the room when I am on here, and he'll say what are you writing about...then when I tell him...he realizes it is boring to him...and he leaves. He is supportive about my love of the 80's...he likes alot of the music from the 80's, and he goes to all the concerts with me. My husband pretty much is happy when I am happy...so he never says anything about the billions of movies I have, and me collecting 80's memorbilia, or me wanting to run off with Cindymancini to meet up with 80s celebs...even me going to meet Joanna (Isis)...I would say that cost us over $800 that weekend...he had fun, so he doesn't care about it. He just never has an obsession with the 80s ...like me.
I did have a friend of mine from the 80s join for awhile...but he got bored with it...he just did it to hang around me....but he didn't have a love for the 80s. The only people I know that feel like me...are the people who are on here.
My real life friends aren't major 80s lovers....one of my best friends...she will go anywhere and watch anything with me...and she likes all of it...but she doesn't have the "need" to talk about it all the time.
My own brother thinks I am nuts for being on here...he loved the 80s too...and he listens to some of the same stuff...and he likes to reminisce with me about when we were kids...he actually remembers everything ...even more than I do...but he doesn't even own a computer-can ya believe that? I tell him to get one ..all the time...so we can email each other. He just says...get in the car and come see him...or call him.
Most of my friends know about the Rewind...especially with the Poster that TKO made, hanging in my house...but they don't "get it"...like why I want to hang here all the time, and most people that know me...don't even understand how I can put the time in to being here...and do everything else I do in real life.

I wish I knew more 80's fanatics in the flesh as well. I love the combined info on this site from all the Rewinders, the attention to detail on some things is astonishing.

Every time someone on here tells someone else the name of a movie or song that they have been looking for so long for...I get so excited and happy to see that happen. I just loved it when TKO found the name of that song for someone...that was so cool....because everyone on here can relate to that...and that is what makes coming here so awesome to me.

It is very rewarding when I know or find a title for someone else, because I know how happy I was when a couple of Rewinder's helped me out when I first joined here. I've learned so much from this site and would like to say thanks to everyone on here.

There are people who have been here and left...that I wish would come back, because I really liked talking to them. 2 of my favorites were Eddie Wilson and Bionic Bigfoot. I use to talk to FAT and Siskobell. I sent messages to a few people, but never heard back...so I am not sure what happened to them, but maybe some day they will return.
I have found so many good movies to watch, that I never would have known about ...if it weren't for here...so I am extremely grateful about that too.

It's funny how some people dissapear, sometimes I check the recent users forum and see if there are any old names lurking. I don't know, it just seems like a click away to see how people are doing.

I'm trying to get my boyfriend Sean to join in the fun, I'm not sure if he will tho.
We both love movies and the music of the 80's, and between us have a big collection of 80's compilation CDs. There is a new one out now that we are going to buy together, it's 101 hits of the 80's on 5 cds. I realise we probably have most of the songs already but it will be nice to have them all in one place.
I tell Sean all about some of the things we discuss in here... he loves the Holloween decorations at Isis' house, and he thinks that those of us with pics in our profiles "look relatively normal" haha.
I guess I should say something about the elephant in the room... yes I'm gay, I hope no one has a problem with that. I don't anymore - but I did for a long long time.
Sean and I met in March this year after chatting online for a year and we hit it off straight away. He's a top bloke, and I reckon you would all like him. So if you ever see a post from someone named "Kyfho", that will be my Sean!

i have never asked my b/f to join this site. he shares my love for 80s music and movies but just isn't as "passionate" about it as i am. a couple of my friends come here and look around, read my posts but have yet to join. wonder what scares them off??
i think there's a significant amount of people here who not only post daily but talk to each other as well (through PM or outside the website).. so perhaps there are those who only see this place as another message board and don't participate or get involved, for whatever reason.
there are people here who have been a member as long as i have and i have never spoken to, until recently.
i miss eddie as well. he was always cool and had his own local band that he was always telling me about.

Stitch-I never knew that about you, but from the last so many posts of yours...I definately had got that impression that your "mate" wasn't just your good buddy. If your happy, then I am happy for you. You get 1 life, all that matters is if you were happy.

SG, didn't know either. I noticed that on the recent US ballot there was a lot of stuff on it, such as passing laws concerning same sex couples and stuff. Was that expected? I know some people who were up in arms with having all this extra stuff on the ballot varying from state to state. In Australia are the laws liberal or conservative? My knowledge of Aussie politics is very small.
Speaking of missing people, what happened to Jabeen?

Jabeen moved to Texas...last I knew. She use to call me on the phone alot...way back when...but I haven't heard from her for a long time now either.
The same sex marriage thing was talked about during the debates, but neither side said they would approve that.
Personally I am undecided about that one...I believe on one hand, if your commited to being with a person for life, and you live together and share all your bills and all that...then if one of them has health care and the other does not, then they should be allowed to put each other on their policy.
But...on the other hand....I have a really good friend who has state benefits that are awesome...she is a single mother...she isn't gay...and she and I talked about this...what if I was single too, and we wanted to be roommates...because I wanted her benefits...what if I told the government I was gay...but I really wasn't...
I think there are so many loop holes in our system as it is...with welfare...and that's why nobody can afford good medical insurance as it is already...is because people abuse the system. That's what has always made it bad for anyone who is legitimate. I am talking even with social security disability too...how many people are not injured that are collecting money every month because they are a drug addict-that should not be a reason for getting any kind of benefits.
I think with alot of people...the issue with gay marriages all comes down to the bible and that's what they are basing most of that on.
Personally I don't care about that either...based on religion.
My whole take on sexuality ....is that..what you do in your bedroom with whomever is your busniess...I don't care what heterosexual people do...so to me it is something that isn't like racism...the only thing that makes a person gay is who they sleep with...and to me...that's up to them.
I think the world has personally gone down the tubes with morality and everyone is sleeping with everybody...and that's what scares me the most...is how.. as a mother do I protect my child from diseases. That's what he is learning right now in his Health Course, and it scares me to death...how may STDs are out there, and they can kill you. My son can not even understand why anybody wants to ever do any of that stuff... so it is really hard to try and explain it.
I think kids today are bombarded with so much sexual information.
I'll tell you guys 1 thing...I can not stand how often the word "gay" is used by young kids. It just cost my son his best friend...because my son told his friend that he couldn't come over here this weekend, because we were all sick...and his friend wrote back and said "that's gay"....my son thought he meant that as being rude...but what he meant it was..like...that's lame that he couldn't come over, but my son didn't understand the "lingo", and said..you don't have to be rude, I just didn't want for you to get sick"...then it escalated and his friend wrote something worse...and my son said..the heck with it...that he was sick of him acting like that, and being rude and mouthy.
But...that's not the first time I have heard kids using the word gay like that. I know another kid who says it constantly...and says .."Oh that's gay"...like as if that's stupid. I wonder why his mother doesn't tell him to quit it...but then I hear her saying it too.
