-That random hard candy that old people have around the house that isn't really candy. -generic suckers -this Mexican candy I don't know the name of, but it tastes exactly like fruity cleaning product smells. -Hot Tamales/Red Hots/Anything Hot-Cinnamon-etc.

If you're going to give me beer it better be some Michelob or some imported stuff.

They STILL make candy cigerettes. You have to find a place that prides itself in selling Old Time-y candy! There is a Sweet Shop near me that sells ices and candy. My daughters 9 year old friend asked me if he could have cigerettes and I thought he was joking, meaning asking for REAL cigerettes just to freak me out. Then when he held up the candy cigerettes I was like "MY GOD! THEY STILL MAKE THOSE?????" and bought them for him. Now whenever I go in there I say "maybe I should pick up cigerettes for Johnathan" .
No pennies! Remember the kids who used to get excited when they saw the people throw "money" in the bag? At the end of the night you'd count it and find you were the proud owner of 36 cents!
I like Hot Tamales candys and COORS LITE. MCDONALDS coupons are cool if I remember to USE them.
Before I go taking total credit for this topic, this all started when KINDERTRAUMA was talking about their disdain for MARY JANES. They asked if anything was WORSE than MARY JANES and it got me to thinking - yeah, there are a few bummers I would try to trade with my friends on Halloween.
Does anyone like ABBA ZABBAS? (I THINK thats what their called, maybe its ABBA DABBAS?)I had nevr had one before this year and finally saw them in a 99 cent store and bought some. YUCK! Think LAFFY TAFFY with peanut butter in the middle.

One of the best years for my daughter was when we went trick or treating with her friend who was allergic to peanut butter. ALL the candy she got with peanut butter she gave my daughter. (we offered to "trade" her with non-peanut butter candy but she just wanted to be rid of the peanut butter stuff and didnt care about breaking even on the deal).

I like most candy, so I'm thinking more along the lines of poor Charlie Brown..."I got a rock." No rocks for me, thanks. Or those Necco wafers. Nasty stuff.

John Candy! Just kidding!
Actually, the candies that I do NOT like are anything with marshmallows with them, and anything with caramel. Blecch!

Pettyfan, I was so going for the rocks, but you beat me to it. And 80'sRocked what kid wouldn't want McDonald's coupons instead of a giant Hershey bar?
So I guess I'll pass on that Candied Apple with the razor blades in it as well.

Well....last year I didn't want anything sticky that would rip my braces off...this year I say "Bring it On!". I remember these things we use to get that were like a stick of peanutbutter taffy, and they were wrapped in waxed paper-I loved them. They don't make them any more.
I am not crazy about anything sour, except I use to like Tiny Tarts.
Anyone else miss Wacky Wafers? My favorite candies were Bottle Caps-the rootbeer were the best-Boston Baked Beans, and Sixlets.
I love Mallow Cups. Does anyone else know about those? They are made right here in PA. They are my all time favorite.
I am not crazy about getting "homemade" items-unless it's Rice Krispy treats.
I don't want any pencils either. Toothbrushes are actually cool.
I don't like Popcorn Balls.
I always give out cans of Rootbeer and Orange Pop.
I love cheese puffs-I have filled up those plastic hands-full of those, and "handed" them out.
There was a guy on the street at the first house I owned, and he would give out Susan B. Anthony coins.
I always loved those homes that gave you a whole candy bar. Those were rare items.

I absolutely hate Orange Circus Peanuts-I always felt like my teeth would fall out eating those things. My brother loved them, but he loved Dreamsicles too-and I hated them. I always hated Scooter Crunch ice cream bars too.

I wish we’d celebrate Halloween like you guys. The only thing you notice here is the whole decoration thing. Oh well, al least it’s a start. Who knows in a couple of years…

I feel the same way about PEEPS as I do about candy corn. ONE PEEP a year / One handful of candy corn a year is PLENTY. I wouldnt say "No"...but I sure wouldnt gobble it down.
I hate GOOD N PLENTY.Do they still make GOOD N FRUITY???? Those were okay. They were pretty mcuh the same thing as IKE & MIKES. I still get a hankerin' for IKE & MIKE's every so often. JUJY FRUITS too (although green JUJY FRUITS are sorta nasty).
I used to love WACKY WAFERS! I guess they dont make those anymore?
My best friend is a stickler for hard-to-find candy or candy they dont make anymore. Like if he stumbles across CHARLSTON CHEWS or MARATHON BAR he buys it in bulk. We talk about SUMMIT candy bars and REGGIE candy bars and VOLCANO ROCKS and ASTRO POPS and all the other candys we ate as a kid that they cease to make nowadays.
My mother is the only person I know who gives out real-size candy bars on Halloween. She spends a good $200 on Halloween candy.

There is a store in California called CANDY BARON and sometimes I see some of that old school stuff pop up there. It aint cheap though!
The other day my daughter almost choked on a Jolly Rancher - the small ones they make now. It got me and my friend talking about how we preferred the old school JOLLY RANCHERS, when they were long and thin...and you could suck it into a pointy weapon and hurt people with it - ha ha - between those and Astro Pops Im sure many a kid lost an eye!
Does anyone else put PEEPS in the microwave to watch them expand? They get HUGE!
