Continuing with the music top 5's I was wondering what people's favourite "every one stop talking there's a guitar solo coming up" moments were:
Here's mine:
Jeff Waters (Annihilator) - The Fun Palace
Kirk Hammett (Metallica) - Am I Evil?
CC Deville (Poison) - Life Goes On
Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) - The Trooper
Kirk Hammet (Metallica) - The Day That never comes
I guess I could probably even do a Kirk Hammet Top 5 as his solos just blow me away....
1. Am I Evil (I know its a cover...I don't care!!!) 2. The Day That Never Comes 3. The Outlaw Torn 4. Unforgiven 5. Leper Messiah.
Noms Hammett

Honourable mention-
Jimi Hendrix-All along the watchtower Adrian Smith-Number of the Beast Alex Lifson-2112, Subdivisions, tons of others. Frank Marino, Eric Johnson, Satch , Vai, Schenker all have some good ones, but can't think of the particular one as of this moment.

I gotta say Dr. Hooks Cover of the Rolling Stones is the best ever.

I have to agree with Pyro about Highway Star. I was listening to that last night while shooting pool with my brother. Such an awesome guitarist. You could also throw in the song Lazy - The whole song is basically a guitar solo and has great organ intro too that sounds demonic as.
I know this song is probably done to death but I always felt one of the bes solos laid down was Sweet Child of Mine by Slash
1. Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin (Stairway to Heaven) 2. Slash of Guns N' Roses (Sweet Child) 3. Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath (Iron Man) 4. Edward Van Halen of Van Halen (Eruption) 5. Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple (Smoke on the Water)
I would say these are some of my favourites but a top 5 is impossible for me to do. There are so many great guitarists with so many different styles. My top 5 here probably isn't even my top 5 but the first 5 that come to mind.

Pyro and Riptide - My first thought right away was David Gilmore - Comfortably Numb. Man do I love that. Makes the hair on my neck stand up!

Also, Warren Haynes when he played with Dave Matthews Band - Cortez the Killer - Live at Central Park. That was killer.

Gotta also throw Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains on my list somewhere too. Easily one of the best guitarists of the 90's in my book. And definitely one of my favs of the decade.
