I can't believe the Mets choked like that two years in a row, but ccol that the Brewers are going to the postseason for the first time since 1982! Pretty incredible too that the Chisox and Twins will duke it out tomorrow to determine who will go to the playoffs.

actually the White Sox play Detroit tomorrow in a makeup game of an earlier rainout. If the White Sox win then the Twins and White Sox play on Tuesday with the winner to face Tampa. If the White Sox lose tomorrow then the Twins win the division and will play Tampa.

I too am a Yankee fan and I must say that was a pretty sad display that the Mets put on all week. Up 2 with 7 to play and couldn't finish as usual. All I heard on the radio all day is crying about the bullpen and having no closer since August. Wah, Wah, Wah. How about scoring more than 5 runs in the final three games AT HOME!? Nice way to close Shea Stadium.
The only thing I will root for now is - eliminating the Red Sox.

The Chisox got it done, we'll see how they play tomorrow against the Twins.
JDocster, the I've felt sorry for two teams the past 10-15 years, the Royals and the Pirates. Two small market teams stuck in cellar hell for far too long. It's been 23 years since when George Brett won the World Series. I think the Royals are starting to show some life finally, they have some good prospects like Alex Gordon and will only get better. The TB Devil Rays are proving that young teams can get good fast with the right moves, let's hope KC can rise again.
How do you feel about the Angels-Red Sox series?
I kind of want to see a Devil Rays-Cubs World Series.

The Angels clearly have the better team IMO, but they always struggle against Boston. Should be a great series.

The Angels might have the best reliever in baseball. Didn't F-ROD have over 60 saves or something? You think Boston has what it takes to repeat? Even without ManRam? And when did the Braves start missing the playoffs?

Second best reliever(Rivera #1).
Boston will be a tough rival no matter who they face, especially at Fenway. Angels need to take advantage of having the extra game at home.
Braves are on the same road as the Yankees if they don't get their act together and start making better decisions.

I was in four fantasy baseball leagues all through Yahoo!
I took 1st in 2 leagues and 3rd in the other two. One of my 3rd place leagues was a money league so for my efforts I won $175 so with my $100 entry fee I netted $75. I won $100 for finishing 3rd then an extra $75 for having the most team saves.
With all Yahoo leagues you get a virtual trophy for any placing of 3rd or better. Giving me 22 trophies for my Yahoo! career.

I'm guessing it'll be Cubs-Angels for all the marbles in the end. Now, if the former does go the distance for the first time since the days of Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance (and oh yeah, Harry Steinfeldt at 3rd), who's going to be the league's whipping boy for futility; everyone else with long losing streaks won this decade, so I guess it'll fall to Cleveland now (paging Willie Mays Hayes, just in case...)

"They still have a team here in Cleveland?"
"Yeah, we have uniforms and everything."
One of my favorite baseball movies of all time.

Helluva game tonight. A pitching duel, tough luck for the Twins two years in a row. I like the Devil Rays in 4 against Chisox. I really would love to see the Cubs do it on the 100th anniversary of their last WS win. I nver forgot how cursed the Cubs when I recall that loss to the Marlins in the Bartman game. Still remember the depressed look on the faces of Chitown celebs John Cusack and DB Sweeney when they lost. As for futility, I think the Texas Rangers are getting there, all those years and no WS appearance EVER! Cleveland should have won one WS in the 90's. They had some good teams, But the Twins, Braves and Yankees denied them.

They were also "denied" by the Florida Marlins (1997 World Series).
(and I was rooting for Cleveland to win that one!)

I hated that Florida WS so much. A bunch of star players herded together for a short time, then they dismantled the team the next year. Just a total waste. Cleveland should have had one, and Atlanta should have won another IMO.

It's OK, the Yankees couldn't win every year right? I can't stand Bud Selig for letting Jeffrey Loria have the Marlins after basically destroying the Expos, that was so heinous IMO especially seeing as the Expos were robbed in 94 with the strike. We had the best team in baseball, it would have been Yankees vs. Expos perhaps, but we'll never know.
I hate to say it but those Bosox are damn good. The Angels came so close, but the Sox got it done again. Lighting up F-Rod, the man with 60 saves.

Cubs get swept. My lord they really are cursed, what is going on in Chi town? I realize it's the ManRam effect but didn't think they would be blown out like that. Ouch.

If The Angels can pull this game out tonight, it would be some game 5 in Anaheim.
