I'd have to say Sam's the best, followed by the Nagano "snowlets" and Whatizit (who I remember had his own animated special on TNT just before the Atlanta games aired, about his attempt to leave the "Torchworld" in which he lives and compete in the actual games).

I think the current ones look like something out of pokemon...
I really like the Montreal beaver "Amik" though, very cute and he doesn't look like some cartoon thing.

There were three mascots for the Sydney Olympics in 2000, Syd, Milly, and Olly, I think they were a echidna, a koala and a kangaroo...
