I thought I'd start a topic in hopes of hearing from Nick or someone who might have some contact with him. I'm curious what the future plan is for the site. I know he was talking about a big idea for movie locations. Are there still plans to try to grow the site and bring in new posters? I know life gets busy so I'm totally understanding. I'm just curious what the future looks like.
I'd also love to hear some thoughts from the posters who are still here. Do you have any great ideas for the site or for bringing more posters in?
The one thought I had was to hit up one of the bigger 80's accounts on twitter, that I follow, and let them know about this place. See if they'd take a look and maybe give a shoutout to get some people here. I know it's harder to get regulars on message boards these days, but there is a ton of great info on this site. I do think people would come back. I also was wondering if a few emails could be sent out to the users to try and get them to come back again. Maybe there is a weekly newsletter or something. Could be fun!
Let's hear from the Rewind faithful - shoot some ideas out and maybe we can figure something out.

I've been doing this on another forum where I am an admin, we used to have 30,000 active members but it's now dropped to less than 1,000 logging in per month and probably only 200 active posters.
Facebook and other social media platforms caused a decline in forum use some years ago. The problem now is the lack of posts but that's a catch 22, any people that do visit may not bother registering or posting because it so quiet. A blanket email may get some members logging in again but unless there is something to keep them it will dwindle again. Although understanding the problem is the easy part though, fixing it is somewhat harder.
A newsletter is a good idea to keep members interested, other activities like a quiz maybe good, if this was automated it would be good, not just forum posts. I'm part of another site where they have a quiz every so often and you have to find the answers on the site to automatically move on to the next question.
Hopefully Nick will see this and post as to the future of the site, I for one would like to see it grow.

Yes I think the newsletter would be a good one. "This week in 198x" would get us through 10 years of weekly newsletters. A couple weekly articles which could be movie reviews, which then could be added to the site with the other reviews. I think this one is tough and we've tried in the past but a weekly movie club or a couple different ones depending on your interest. Watch the movie during the week and start a discussion or deep dive on it. Of course trying to do movies that are streaming at first would be smart. Maybe getting some polls going on here would help with traffic as well. Of course a lot of this would probably have to come from social media posts, to grab more people but if it could all be linked back to the site to have the discussions vs on social media.
Sorry, kind of a brain dump of a post but thought I'd get some more ideas out here.
Yes I agree, it's not just about getting people to come back, it has to be "come back for the new....," and hopefully whatever that is makes people stick around.
