(A young urban professional" or "young upwardly-mobile professional")
Did you wear a designer suit? Had you a phone the size of a brick? You worked in the business district. You had a filofax. You had a fancy car, possibly a BMW Possibly had salmon or oysters for lunch and washed it down with something bubbly.

I wasn’t a yuppie. But back in the 80’s, when I was in HS and then college, I hoped to move to New York City someday and become one of them. I’d hoped to be dressed to kill with designer suits and heels and a successful Husband. Well, that never happened 😂 However, I do have a wonderful, successful Husband and live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh

High water jeans with designer bart Simpson t-shirt - a different take on sophistication
A filofax was an organiser, you put important names and dates in it.
The Corvette does sound good.
Old el paso refried beans with cheddar cheese melted on top - sounds like something we might of had after many hours and many beers.
