Nice find indeed.. haven't seen that one either since '87 or '88 when i took it home from the videostore. However, i do still own a large cardboard promotional display for Shaker Run (with different artwork though).
Received some recently released UK imports last weekend :
From Arrow i got Blood Tide (1982) and White Fire (1985).. Another two from Eureka, Zu Warriors From The Magic Mountain (1983) and Sergio Corbucci's spaghetti-western The Specialists (1969).. and from 88Films Jackie Chan's Heart Of Dragon (1985) as well as the shaolin kung-fu spectacle Clan Of The White Lotus (1980), and also upgraded Lamberto Bava's Macabre (1980) to blu-ray !
I have to say i really dig those Jackie Chan releases 88Films has been putting out over the last 6 or 7 months or so.. Good stuff !

Lots of gem releases coming monthly from various distributors. It really is hard work to keep track of all the stuff.

I'm trying though !
Things got a bit out of hand with my June package, mostly because it included several box-sets that got delayed the previous months.
Highlight of the package is without a doubt this truly fantastic Al Adamson box-set that includes no less than 32 (!) not-so-fantastic films from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, from biker-movies to horror, and from blaxploitation to softcore erotica, mostly ultra-cheap drive-in fare basically.
Severin Films issued a cool promotional video for the box-set, which gives a pretty accurate impression of what to expect.. Check it out : www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWz8WOFiL6w
I'm happy with it, but.. well, let's just say it's an acquired taste !

Lots of cool stuff arrived last weekend . . highlights include :
The Synapse 3-disc edition of The Living Dead At Manchester Morgue
It's a bit expensive.. but being a collector, i figured i wouldn't wanna miss out on this particular edition.
And the same goes for this recently released box-set of Nicolas Roeg's Walkabout.
Even though i already have the Criterion blu-ray (which is a perfectly fine release), i just couldn't resist picking up this new box-set edition from UK's Second Sight Films, a hefty package which comes with 3 booklets, features a different restoration than the Criterion disc, and has its own exclusive special features.

My Husband bought The Holiday, The Wedding Weekend and Auntie Mame (1958) for me. I like to watch Auntie Mame every year around Christmas time, but we no longer get Turner Classic Movies channel. I love Rosalind Russell and this version seriously cracks me up. I also like the cheesy The Holiday, and I get tired of seeing it in bits and pieces and tons of commercials inserted. I wanted the DVD. And another cheesy flick The Wedding Weekend, about a group of friends who gather together for a friend’s wedding. I like the cast, except for Molly Shannon. I think she’s an awful actress, and it’s literally the same act no matter what part she is playing. The original title of this movie was Shut Up and Sing, which was the title it had when I rented it years ago.

Yes Helen S! The 2006 movie. I love Kate Winslet in it. She and Jack Black and Eli Wallach = great chemistry! I wanted the dvd because I’m tired of seeing cut up versions with tons of commercials on tv. I’m glad someone else likes it too! 😊

Received these two German imports today : Brigade Of Death (1985) and Amazons (1986)
Brigade Of Death is an explicitly violent vigilante sleaze-fest from French filmmaker Max Pécas. There's not a whole lot to find on this obscure piece of French exploitation cinema.. however, i did come across this crummy looking trailer on Youtube :
Fans of The Exterminator and Death Wish II should rejoice and grab a copy while it's still available, as it's limited to 1000 copies. Needless to say, the quality on this edition is infinitely better than that Youtube trailer !
Both Brigade Of Death and Amazons (which oddly carries a Shout Factory logo on the back) are currently ONLY available as German imports, but do come with the original audio tracks, French on Brigade Of Death (with optional English subtitles) and English on Amazons.

- Second Sight's limited 7-disc (4 blu-rays + 3 soundtrack CDs + 2 books) box-set edition of George Romero's classic Dawn Of The Dead
- The Fu Manchu Cycle 1965-1969, limited (individually numbered) box-set edition (mine is #2699 of 6000 copies) from Powerhouse Films
- He Came From The Swamp ; The William Grefé Collection, a nice companion piece to the Al Adamson box-set released earlier this year
Also : Martin Scorsese's The Irishman (Criterion 2-disc blu-ray set)

German imports of Enzo Castellari's High Crime (1973) and the Hong Kong actioner Drug Connection (a.k.a. A Man From Holland, 1985)
Also got Godfrey Ho's Lethal Panther (1990) in a "mediabook" blu-ray + dvd combopack.
Both Drug Connection and Lethal Panther come with extensive bonus features, including commentaries (in English) with Mike Leeder and Arne Venema, the same guys who've been doing commentaries for numerous Eureka and 88Films Asian Cinema releases in the UK. On Lethal Panther they're joined by no other than Godfrey Ho himself, who also appears elsewhere on the disc for a on-camera interview.
All discs are 100% English-friendly, and -as far as i know- these titles have only been released in Germany (so far) !

Purchasing this set was more along the lines of a preemptive buy because sooner or later I expect the price to increase and you know what happens if you snooze. What I do know is Chris Lee was fantastic.

Can't go wrong with that set ! ..and yeah, once they go out-of-print, prices will rise. Box-sets like this will always be of value to fans, and there will always be a demand, so it's a solid investment, i'd say.
Severin recently announced a follow-up box-set, so i hope you've got more money to spend !

IDK if it's the economy or do people think everything will automatically increase in value or what but some of the price increases are crazy.
There once was a time when an OOP film didn't necessarily command high dollars but that doesn't seem to be the case. Look at The Return of the Living Dead (CE Blu-ray).
A second edition of the Chris Lee collection would be wonderful but how about some love for Peter Cushing.

George Romero's Martin, Second Sight's limited edition 4K + blu-ray + CD box-set (also includes a 108-page book)
Released this monday, and reportedly supplies are already running low (with asking prices going up), i'm happy my copy was delivered today (even though i'm not yet 4K equipped).

Very expensive box-set, but let's be honest : Was there ever any doubt i was going to get this ? I don't think so !
