Thread for discussion on all things to do with the Games.
What did people think of the Opening Ceremony, and how have your nation been doing? What sports and events are you looking forward to?
The Rowing at Eton Dorney is only about three miles from my house, and is looking great. In fact, all of the venues are first class, even the beach volleyball at Horseguards Parade looks great.

I liked the Opening Ceremony, 35 million very well spent. Cool special fx, huge choreographies and good music and artists (it was great to see Mike Oldfield!) The Gregory´s Girl clip was a plus.
Finland has a really great past in Summer Olympics but nowadays i´m not expecting much.
When i was young, i watched every event they aired here in Finland. Even during the middle of the night (Los Angeles 1984, Seoul 1988)
Now, i´m mostly waiting for the Athletics.

BBC have put on 24 dedicated HD channels just for the Games, so it's easy to become an armchair expert in every minority sport going... Today, I learned the rules to Beach Volleyball

Definitely enjoying the Games so far. It's just awesome to see all the athletes represent their country and compete and live out their dreams.
I love all the water sports.. and gymnastics, track and field, rowing, tennis, volleyball .. both mens and womens for all.
And I thought the Opening Ceremony was done really well. Agree with aTomik on the music.. going through 4 decades of music history along with the played-out romance. Bond, Beckham.. ha! Great finale!

I grew up watching the Olympics with my mom and dad. I even created my own games as a kid to play based on the Olympics. So definitely some awesome childhood memories associated with the Olympics for me.
I've been impressed with how London is presenting the Olympics to the world. Great job so far!

I don't really care much about the Olympics, but last night i watched the closing ceremony just because i wanted to see my all-time favorite band The Who.
Turned out they were the big finale.. AT 1 O'CLOCK IN THE NIGHT !!
It was good to see Townshend and Daltrey together again though. After 48 years they're still going strong. Well, not as strong as they used to, but they still rock ! And they were the only performers there who got to play 4 songs. So i guess it payed off to stay awake for the whole thing.
