i wanted to ask a question about star trek and spaceballs, did you notice the voice of the computer spock was interacting with prior to attempting to mind meld with vger, sounds almost identical to the voice of the countdown computer on spaceball one near the end of the movie?

i also encourage other people to post things they found, so this post doesnt go to waste on just one question

within 30 seconds of a movie trailer, i can tell its a independant film, its the same thing over and over, do all of them have to be mopey people, with a life crisis, or a recent death of a loved one with depressing guitar strumming as the score?

does this not get annoying after awhile?

Exactly correct, GP. [Smile] Critic Roger Ebert wrote a book on movie cliches called "The Little Movie Glossary" where he has stuff like that where you see it, and you know exactly what is up. How about the trailers with the bombastic guy that always started, "In a world..."

the brand of beer predominately seen in john hughes films, and films that take place in chicago, is Old Style Beer.

the scene where ally sheedy threw the lunch meat at the statue, i have thought it was pastrami for years and come to find out last night it was olive loaf!

Old Style is now the feature beer in the U.S. version of the television show Shameless. I guess if we had a Pittsburgh themed show, it would be Iron City beer for the feature beer.

GP, I agree about the trailers for indy movies. I can always tell and indy movie trailer from big box office trailers.

that in alot of movies richard nixon is associated with some kind of evil or villany.

ex. in the movie misery, paul sheldon is looking through anne wilkes scrapbook and she happens to have a elect nixon pennent inside.

And looking closely at the Hill (Hell) Valley newspaper in 1985A Marty perused, one can note that in Biff's horrific alternate reality, Nixon had been in office for 4 terms, seeking a 5th, and still running the Vietnam war (although for the newspaper promising to end it by 1986).

Nice Grab CandyFanMan, never caught that before.

Say on another note Did you ever notice that Bill Conti got sloppy with his film scores? That is in the film Bush Whacked with Daniel Stern and the film Spy Hard he recycled themes from the film Masters of the Universe?

Also speaking of Bushwhacked I think Nixon was on the wall in there as well, but I can't be certain, it's been weeks since I last seen it.

I'm just thinking that Clint Eastwood has arguably been in more movies that anybody else who is alive today and in most of his movies he is either a cop or a drifter who always yields a body count. He's gotta be up there.
