i think there should be a post just to discuss this field of movies.
it would also be neat to get into the spirt of things like joe bob brigg's monstervision and pick out whatever random horror movie watch it and discuss with everyone, much like the review movie night. although it will be less formal, anybody suggest a movie of this field, mainstream or not, doesnt matter as long as it is a horror film, from any decade and we can discuss it
i recently have watched scarecrows (1988) and thought it to be weak. sure some of the scarecrows were kinda spooky, there was some suspense but i really dont like loose ends and the story did not sum up enough for me, things seemed to be left up in the air.
Let me know what you think, and make a few nominations for the next movie discussion, it doesnt matter if the movie is terrible either, in fact, it makes it more fun to talk about when it is terrible but i am more than happy to discuss the good ones too.

You know I was talking about doing somthing like this myself once.
I think it is a great Idea, and I'd be happy to do it.
Scarecrows, I remember watching before and thinking that some movies are done on a low budget and seem more like a big budget movie, then agian some reflect their budget. I think Scarecrows was the latter. The characters were all just obsticals, thier was no depth to them. The concept was eeire and dark which could have made for a good story but they kind of fumbled the ball on this one.
I got one for you why does it seem that Friday the 13th pt. three is a little different that parts 1,2, and 4? I really like the film, but somthing seems to stray from the others, and I can't quite put my finger on it. Also there is a few bad performances in this one, but most of the cast is good.

I would love if this idea were to happen!! As for "Friday the 13th Part 3", I really like it too. I think what made it a little different to me was the opening. I loved that funky music when the titles were shooting out of the screen in 3-D. And I really think Steve Miner wanted the actors to overact a little too campy. i thought richard brooker did the best performance as jason, and this one i thought had the best group of kids, good special effects work, some of the acting was a little off, but on the whole my favorite friday.

I just watched the movie Dolls 1987, and was surpirised by it. I thought that it might be like Puppetmaster, and be a bit cheesy. However I was glad to find that though the writing and characters seemed a bit corny and cliche, the actors did an exceptional job of potraying them most notably Stephen Lee who played the part of Ralph. It was a good movie.

Jack, it took me a long time to catch up with Stuart Gordon's "Dolls," and when I finally did, I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the characters and situations are cliche, but I was completely entertained by the whole thing. It's kind of like Gordon and company decided to do a little movie experiment to see what they could accomplish with a small cast on just a few interior sets. They succeeded very well in an neat, old-school way. The acting is good, the dolls are terrific, and the whole enterprise is fun. It's one of the coolest "possessed dolls" movies around. Yeah, I thought to begin with that they were not showing the dolls in action because they figured it would look cheesy, however It soon became clear to me that they were just putting their feet in the water before jumping in. As the dolls moved toward the end I was agian pleasantly surprised to find that they not only kept the creepyness, but took it to the next level.

Posted this in the 70's thread as well...Just watched Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the first time ever! Loved the grittiness of it and how real it all seemed.

Don't know why but I've been itching to watch Night of the Comet, Night of the Creeps, Day of the Dead, Hallween I and III, and Chainsaw II agian.
I would also like to watch Chopping Mall which I've still never seen.

I've watched Friday the 13th 1-4 I don't know how many times lately and it's not gotten old yet.
I remember liking Nightmare on Elm St. series better when I was a kid. But now I'm more into Friday "I can't explain zat. Can you explain zat?"

From what I've seen of The Keep so far, I like it.
Then agian how can Mann go wrong in the eighties?
He did. I think that "The Keep" is a slow, stodgy, boring film. OK, it looks good--you'd expect that from Mann--but it's easily his worst film.

Just finished the Keep, man did that come apart fast in the middle. Crash you were right. I hate it when movies are going good, then suddenly spiral out of control.
Jenny Agutter in a Nurse Outfit, that image can bring a man back from the dead. She is smoking! My generation can keep it's Lady Gagas, Brittany Spears and Paris Hiltons. Give me women like Jenny Agutter, Jobeth Williams (Polterqeist), Elizebeth Perkins, Loranie Broco, Ellen Barkin, Cathy Moriarty, Mary Stuart Masterson... oh I ramble. Sorry lost my train of thought there.
