"Harper's Island" follows a family and friends who travel to a secluded island off the coast of Seattle for a destination wedding. Abby Mills (Elaine Cassidy), whose mother was killed on the island by a homicidal maniac's rampage seven years ago, journeys home for the first time since the horrific event for the wedding of her best friend, Henry Dunn (Christopher Gorham). Henry, the boy next door, is marrying the woman of his dreams, Trish Wellington (Katie Cassidy), a beautiful and wealthy heiress.
As the wedding festivities begin, friendships are tested and secrets exposed as a murderer claims victims, one by one, transforming the wedding week of fun and celebration into a terrifying struggle for survival. By the end of the 13 episodes, all questions will be answered, the killer will be revealed and only a few will survive.
"Harper's Island" only lasted for one season and the ratings were less than stellar, but as fan of movies such as "Happy Birthday To Me", "April Fool's Day", and "Friday The 13th" .. I thought it paid great homage to these 80's flicks and others. It had a decent story and the unique kill scenes reminded me specifically of the movies mentioned above.
Also, I enjoyed that the producers didn't let the cast know who the killer was in advance .. including the killer. I thought that made for a cool sequence of episodes and probably fun for the actors/actresses to not know the ending in advance of the script being handed to them each week.
Did anyone else catch this short lived show?

I wanted to like Harper's Island, I really did. I just couldn't get into it though. I did watch the whole season.

Valley, didn't this air over the summer? I just didn't have as much time as I do now to devote to a tv series, especially one like H.I. I was busy cleaning out and remodeling my Mother-in-law's house over the spring, summer and into the fall. I remember I wanted to watch it, but I just couldn't devote the time to it. Is it out on dvd through Netflix?

It isn't available for Netflix instant watch, but they appear to have the complete season DVD set available.
I can see where Pettyfan is coming from.. it wasn't groundbreaking horror or anything.. but I enjoyed it.

I absolutely loved this show. I started to watch it when it was on and then I lost track of it. But I watched the remaining episodes online back to back one night and I was addicted. I think I need to add this one to my collection.
If anyone is looking for a good mystery, then this one is for you!

Just looked this up on IMDB and someone named the killer right at the top of a post in the message board without saying 'spoilers'. Looked good. Can't watch it now.

How ironic. My husband and I were just talking about this show and then I stop in here to see you all talking about it! I thought it was pretty good. I was surprised that they should some of the stuff they did on regular tv though. And Valley is right, it wasn't groundbreaking or anything, but it was entertaining.

I'm glad we finally found a topic that got you to post again!
I was thinking about Devo and you always discussing "Hamburger: The Motion Picture" or your love for Bruce Campbell as the dangling carrot.. little did I know it was "Harper's Island".
