I did not even realize that it was 2/18. I settled into my bed and my computer to watch a movie. What was in mind? What called my name?? Weird Science! As I was looking over the internet movie database I came across the fact that it would have been John Hughes 61st birthday today. I still cannot believe that this brilliant man is gone. He was just such a genius. Also it is Molly Ringwald's birthday too, eerie huh??

John Hughes influenced so many of our lives through his movies. I can't imagine my teen years without movies such as Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, Weird Science, and Some Kind of Wonderful to name a few.
I have several of the tunes from his movies on my ipod, but the one that makes me always take a moment to reflect on the impact of John Hughes is obviously "Don't You Forget About Me" ..
Also, if by chance you never got the opportunity to watch it.. here is the Oscars tribute for John Hughes:

Dont You Forget About Me is one of my favourite songs. As soon as that song comes on the radio it changes my mood straight away.

The legend is still spreading into the next generation. Thanks to my 7 year old son I discovered that on the Disney TV show Shake It Up, the high school is JOHN HUGHES HIGH SCHOOL. Thought it was pretty awesome.

Even though I'm far too old, I really like Shake it Up.

No, I only really get to see the shows when they get to the UK (I see them at work). Shake it Up, Austin and Ally, and Sonny With a Chance are my faves.
We've just Bogarted (?) a John Hughes thread for Disney channel chat!
