My 12 year old daughter wants to have a New Years party at our house. I said she could have her friends here from 5pm-8pm. She got mad that they couldnt stay to "watch the ball drop". I said I didnt want kids in my house til midnight and didnt expect parents to go out after midnight to pick them up She said they could all sleep over Im not even gonna dignify THAT with an answer
My theory is I dont see nobody else offering to do it, so they should be happy with 5 to 8 and accept it .
Am I right here?

I will only say sleepovers are the best memories I have as a kid.........the best!!
Why care about the other people that aren't offering and be the "cool mom" that does..it's about your daughter right?...she's only 12 once? right?

You could offer then you would be stuck with everybodys kids while their parents are partying, i think you have been nice enough to offer 5-8pm i know i wouldnt do it cos in the end xmas is for kids and new year is for adults!

Well... I've never been a twelve year old girl, and I'm not a mom, so for what it's worth...
You can have a New Years Eve party that ends before 12, because it still takes place New Years Eve. But it would defeat the object of the party which is to see in the New Year. I think your daughter is expecting a lot for you to throw a party which takes everyone's kids off their hands and drops them in your lap for a night, so I would offer a middle ground:
1) Either she has only a few friends over (pick the number you feel you can handle easily) and they can stay up 'til 12.
or
2) Have more people over but they have to go home earlier.
That would be my suggestion.

...Another problem is when I was this age ALL my friends were girls. My daughters friends: HALF of them or more are guys! So anyone saying "just let em sleep over" might re-think that one. Hahaha.

Let them sleep over and show them photos of genitals heavily infected with STD's? Just a thought.
