Some lines really stuck with me for lots of different reasons, weather out of humour, cheesyness (is that a word), lesson learned etc. Would love to know what lines from 80s movies have really stuck with you for whatever the reason at all. Please share.
The one line which was typed by Richard Dreyfus at the end of Stand by Me really hit me about 10 yrs ago at aged 27 and has stuck with me and still find it hard to watch him type it now. 'Ill never have the friends like i did when i was 10 yrs old . . . jesus, does anyone?'
I grew up with 5 really close friends. We did everything together up until about 18yrs of age. After learning of Charlie's death, the River Phoenix of our group (10 yrs ago)together with realising we were all grown up i realised the truth of this line and thus has stuck with me and will always. Im still close to 2 of them although i havnt seen them in 7 yrs now. Im sure my thoughts are echoed in here somewhere.

one that quickly comes to mind is from ALMOST FAMOUS. i love the character, penny lane. and growing up, listening to music was always a way of feeling better about almost anything..
"never take it seriously, if ya never take it seriously, ya never get hurt, ya never get hurt, ya always have fun, and if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends." - penny lane
or in my case, press the shuffle button in my itunes.

The great line from EMPIRE RECORDS. This one just sprung to mind immediately when I read this thread topic because I still, to this day, use this line myself in similar conversations.

For years I've quoted Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop...whenever someone tells me something even remotely surprising...in my best high pitched voice I say..."Get The F**K Outta Here!" Love it.....

I'm with Val... soooo many different quotes. I tend to forget which ones I use right up until the moment I use them. Obviously things like 'Hey McFly!' don't really count.
The Dreyfus quote is great, and whenever I hear Stephen King derided as a 'hack' writer, I always point to his short stories as proof that he has tremendous talent.

From Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains: "Everbody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die." Nancy Dowd, you are an amazing screenwriter--this one, Coming Home, and Slap Shot.

Totally out of left field I'm sure, and one that most people don't know. It's a line from my alltime favorite movie "Noises off", and the line is said by `Mrs Clackett, a character performed by Dotty Otley (who is performed by Carol Burnett)in a farce about an inept theatre company itself staging a farce.
So many great lines from this film, such as -
"Lucky I can't see far with this leg" "Oh, I thought I heard my voice" " I 'aven't forgotten the sardines. I remembered the sardines. Well, what a surprise; I guess I'll just go into the kitchen and fix some more sardines to celebrate" "Nothing could have prepared us for the final horror: Cleveland! "
