I loved collecting comics as a kid, but was pretty mainstream...Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Daredevil, Iron Man, Hulk, etc. For the most part, if they turn any superhero into a movie...I'm goin' to see it. I'd have to say The Crow is one of my favs...didn't read the comic, but loved the movie....

See... when you say "top" but have a list that long, either you aren't very selective or you didn't mean to say 'top'.
I sound like I'm being mean, but seriously; what are the FIVE you like the most on your own list? If that's too tough, you can stretch to TEN. Be brutal.
Incidentally, from your list my faves would be 'Spiderman 1', 'Superman: The Movie'. 'Ghost World' and 'American Splendour'. I will add that I thought the original Incredible Hulk TV movie was very good considering the effects / budget limitations of the time, and so it would feature in any top ten comic-based movies list I made.

^This^. I was more of a Marvel fan comics-wise, though.

Heavy Metal - it was just totally amazing to watch and listen to as a kid.
Flash Gordon - campy 80's that was a blast at the time.
Batman - The Dark Knight was a wicked flick.

I´d like to add some of my favorites:
The Punisher (1989) Classic 80s Punisher flick directed by Mark Goldblatt and starring the one and only Dolph Lundgren.
The ´04 Punisher flick with Jane and Travolta was also ok, haven´t seen War Zone (2008) yet.
Mystery Men (1999) is a funny comedy starring Ben Stiller, William H. Macy and Hank Azaria.
I also liked both Swamp Thing flicks, cheesy and fun!
And even one of my favorites The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik-Yak was loosely based on comic book.
What about the Turtles flicks. Did you enjoy those?
The first Turtles movie was great and have you even read any Punisher comic books? i have and i thought Lundgren's movie was ok but no skull. I think Swamp Thing could benifit for a reboot and make it more like the Vertigo comics,
The Incredible Hulk (2008) is what i meant, not Incredibles. The Incredibles is an original idea.

"The Incredibles" is probably one of my fav animated movies ever. Which brings me to my neighbor that dressed his entire family including himself as The Incredibles the last few years for Halloween trick or treating.
Bravely awesome! and worth a Hershey bar for each family member from me .. Lloyd Dobler

As a matter of fact i have, and still own about 200 Punisher comic books. So, it didn´t have the skull, i say so what. Didn´t you just say on the other thread that you see movies as a movies?

Yes Incredibles is awesome and not a comic book movie, i always see Mr. Incredible whenever i go to Disneyland/California Adventure 2 times in a month during my days off work.
War-Zone the sequel to 2004's Punisher adaptation is better than the first.
Did you know Ghost in The Shell and Akira are based on Japanese comics as is Oldboy, Ichi The Killer and Riki-Oh? Cemetery Man is also based on an Italian comic book as is Barbarella. History of Violence, 300, and Road To Perdition are based on graphic novels, did you know that?

Well History of Violence is a Vertigo comic. Kickass is also a Marvel comic and Ghost World is independent as well as The Crow.

Now despite the tragic fate that befell Brandon Lee or the rubbish sequels that followed: The Crow is an atmospheric, and often beautiful, movie about life and death, revenge and redemption.
V: FOR VENDETTA (2006)
A movie, and a warning to the world about big government and wars based on lies.
AKIRA (1988)
The mother of modern sci-fi. I even wrote about it right here at the Rewind, way back when
CASSHERN (2004)
Also from the land of the rising Sun. Post World War III action as neo-human Casshern is ressurected to save humanity from itself.
BLADE (1998)
Great entertainment, new vampires and the best vampire demise shots in the business. And THIS killer opening sequence still stands up over a decade later...
