Again, its a pretty obvious and uninspired nominations list.
Oscar likes records, which is why I think Katheryn Bigalow is a safe bet for director despite 'The Hurt Locker' being one of the worst movies she's ever made.
First woman award winner (good press)
I suspect 'Inglorious Bastereds' won't get too much attention, if only because they'll not want to say "*******s" too often on live TV.
Clooney deserves best actor, he won best supprting four years ago for his excellent performance in 'Syrianna'. Oscar may replay their Kevin Spacey story with him (i.e. best supporting for 'The Usual Suspects', four years later best actor for 'American Beauty').
'Avatar' should do well, if only because its made enough to pay every hack in Hollywood's salary for the next year.
