This movies comes out this weekend.

I might go see it with 2 of my girlfriends.

It looks like it could be ok...but I am so afraid I will hate it....but I want to go out and have fun with my friends...so I won't care if it stinks.

Is anyone else planning to see it?

Sounds like the ultimate chick flick to me. If you see any guys in the audience you can safely assume he did something really bad and is atoning for his misdeeds. [Big Grin]

I'm with Sam on this one. Sorry....I couldn't even get through half of the trailer. [Razz]

As Sam already mentioned, this movie is obviously a "chick flick", especially considering it is a remake of an old 1930's movie of the same title. The original was directed by George Cukor, who was known for making movies which were regarded in the industry (at the time) as "women's pictures."

The fact that Bette Midler, Candice Bergen, Meg Ryan, and Debra Messing are in it...that alone should be a tip-off.

However, I do find it suprising that Mick Jagger is one of the producers! [Eek!]

another tip-off is that just like the original this movie has an entirely female cast.

Yeah...that's why I am going to go see it with my girlfriends, because nobody's husband (including my own) said they want to go see it.

My husband said he would like to see Nights in Rodanthe though...

I just am glad that there are those 2 movies that aren't all full of CGI...except in the trailer for Nights in Rodanthe- the entire house on the beach looks so fake...I have seen ocean front beach houses...but this house is in the sand in the actual ocean. I have been to the Outerbanks too, and I have never seen a house sitting in the middle of the ocean like that one.

Being a girl, you'd think I'd like chick flicks, but I usually can't handle them. I don't want to see this movie. I've also seen previews of Nights in Rodanthe, and it's not for me either. Didn't see the Notebook, either. The last chick flick I watched was A Walk to Remember.

petty what did you think of a walk to remember. i think if you enjoyed that one, you will definitely like the notebook.
it's not just a chick flick to me.. it's a touching love story, with a guy and girl. my bf watched it with me recently and he loved it.

i've never heard of the women. i'll look at the trailer. i like chick flicks...to some extent..i hated mystic pizza. i think it was the cast, don't know.

but a walk to remember and the notebook are favorites of mine.

I loved it. I read The Notebook, so I guess that's why I was never big on seeing it. Actually, I read a Walk to Remember as well, but that was a rare case of movie being better than book. And I did like Terms of Endearment as well...would it be considered a chick flick?

It starred Shirley MacLaine. So, yes, it's a "chick flick"! [Smile]

I like a few of them....but I am not crazy about them either.

I didn't like "A Walk to remember" or "The Notebook".

One of my favorite movies...is the 70's movie:

"The Other Side of the Mountain".

That movie is a really bad tear jerker,

and the movie

"Touched by Love"-with Diane Lane.

If nobody has ever seen those ...they are both great movies.

Plus...my all time favorite is "Liar's Moon" with Matt Dillion- that's my favorite movie he ever did...even above Little Darlings.

My Liars Moon DVD uses the "happy" ending and it has the sadder one as an extra.

I would actually buy the DVD if it has BOTH endings on it.

I have the DVD-it has the Happy ending...which I had never seen before.

I always watched it on VHS-and it has the sad ending. I actually like the sad ending better...because it seems like it fits more, it makes it just horrible....but the Happy ending kind of just leaves you hanging with...now what?
