Brace yourselves... BILLY BOB THORNTON will star as Freddy in the upcoming remake of Nightmare on Elm Street...... now that truly does sound like a nightmare
Freddy with an Arkansas accent
What, is he gonna have sling blades on his hand?
Well, at least they didn't pick some prettyboy actor, and in all fairness, I guess it could be worse!

I can’t see why Robert Englund can’t reprise this role again. With all the makeup it shouldn’t be too much of a problem to hide his age. But I think (if it isn’t just a rumor) that Billy Bob Thornton would make a good Freddy as well. He definitely possesses the humor for it. And according to his ex (Angelina Jolie) he's just as 'creative' with knives hehe.
I only really liked the first three Nightmares, but will go see this one anyway.

Sometimes I'm pretty open to remakes. Sometimes I figure, how bad can they really be? I mean, I've seen some decent remakes and some horrible remakes. But Billy Bob as Freddy? Don't get me wrong, I love a good Billy Bob movie; I think he's a great actor, especially in all those smartass roles he plays, like in Bad Santa. But can he cut it as ol' Fred? That remains to be seen. I'm hoping this is just a rumor from the great big rumor mill, but if not, maybe I'll see it, maybe I won't. Who knows?

Im never open to remakes off the bat, they damn well have to prove themselves to me!
I can only think of one remake I liked better than the original, and that was ASSAULT ON PRECINT 13!
Sure Carpenter's has nostalgic value and 70's cheese, but as an action film, the remake was better!

I have read a report on imdb.com that Billy Bob Thornton is going to play Freddy Krueger in a remake of the classic film "A Nightmare on Elm Street". He certainly is skinny enough to pull it off. I don't know though I don't know if I can see anyone other than Robert Englund in that role. It is going to have to be amazing for them to pull it off.

I always will watch remakes. If anything, just to compare them to the originals. Sometimes they turn out to be pretty decent. Hey, ya never know.

I heard on Sirius satellite radio yesterday that BB was going to take over England's role, but then I read somewhere (maybe IMDB) that it's not been confirmed, and that England has a habit of not always telling the truth (an actor not tell the truth? Gasp!) when it comes to his movies, so I guess we'll have to see.

I wonder if he'll ask for mustard and biscuits or french fried potaters in peoples dreams. I can just hear it now if somebody makes him mad he'll say "You ought not to talk like that you just a boy." I'll still go see it no matter who they decide on...........

Why wouldn't they use Robert Englund? TKO is right...with make-up...he was all burned...and now they make real Halloween masks that are as good as what the original Freddy looked like. Robert Englund was never famous for anything but Freddy (unless you count that Nancy Drew episode)...
Next weekend is when Cindymancini and I are going to the Lost Boys reunion, and it's also a reunion of all the Nightmare on Elm Street people...and Heather Langenkamp will be there. I always liked her.
I can't wait to go.

Englund was also good in that tv show "V." Is Englund even interested in reprising his role? He needs to do something to redeem himself from that terrible "Urban Legend" movie several years back........

The original Nightmare isnt exactly a million years old is it!!! Cant see why some films simply cant be left alone. Although they could remake Freddys revenge lol cos that was awful. And i agree robert Englund could still play the sharp fingered fella.

I REALLY wish they would stop butchering classic 80's films. I'm getting very annoyed. And offended. I grew up on these movies. Let's keep it that way! I cant picture BBT as Freddy. I'd probably die from the sight of him, not from him attacking me in my dreams.

Why a remake!? Why not a sequel? Do hey really think they will make it better than the original? A sequel would be much better, even if the 3 first movies were much better than the rest.
