Totally unnecessary remake. Everything looks so grey and the torture porn kills are not my cup of tea The cast was much better in the original but i was delighted to see good old Tracey Walter (Repo Man, Conan the Destroyer) in this one.

i've watched the i spit on your grave remake atomik and overall i thought it was watchable enough but nothing overly amazing and i agree the torture porn kill's don't do nothing for me either, they seem to have got it there heads nowadays that the more extreme the better.
don't get me wrong i don't dislike the likes of films such as hostel 1 & 2 and saw and its many sequels but i don't think i could keep watching them, the scenes of quite graphic torture do seem a bit off putting at times.
i must say i much prefer my 80s horror.

Personally, i thought Hostel part 2 was pretty good actually. It also has fun cameo appearances by Italian horror legends Ruggero Deodato, Edwige Fenech and Luc Merenda.

I was wooting and clapping through the revenge part of Spit remake I'm not much into torture horror (absolutely despise the term torture porn) but there are a few I like, like Hostel 2, which is a bit black comedy that flick too.

I thought hostel 2 was actually pretty good overall, that's the one where one of the women from the group gets hung upside down in a warehouse then another woman enters the room and then we get a load of torture porn (sorry Helen)

Too funny !
I have the same with Out Of Africa (1985). I know it's a good, well-acted, well-directed, beautifully shot film, and i really tried to like it.. but it's just too damn slow. You'll get more excitement out of watching paint dry !

I watched Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007) for the first time. I find this to be better than the first one, but that's not saying much obviously as that still has some problems.

This was a surprisingly good Marvel flick, i though that it would suck but it rocked
I´m glad that they chose Joe Johnston to direct the film. I´ve always loved his 1991 adventure film Rocketeer and Captain America has lots of the same adventure feel. The cast was great and you gotta love the settings.
Now i´m waiting for the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Decided to check out State of Play today after last night´s Exorcist III and what do you know, i was still in Georgetown, Washington
This was an excellent political thriller directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland, The Eagle). It is an adaptation of the six-part British television serial of the same name which first aired on BBC One in 2003. I can´t remember seeing that one and of course the movie is americanized version of the story.
Russell Crowe is fantastic and i also liked the rest of the cast: Ben Affleck (the weakest link to tell the truth), Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Robin Wright, Jason Bateman and Jeff Daniels.
Cool D.C. locations, interesting story plus great pace and feel. Recommended!

The Warrior's Way (2010) starring Jang Gong-dun, Kate Bosworth, Geoffrey Rush and Danny Huston about a samurai assassin settling in the wild west with an infant as he and the other people in the town must fight people from his past as well as a group of gunmen.
Really mediocre action fantasy film where it has very good visuals, but can't overcome some subpar acting and a weak storyline.

Not in the same league as Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous (2000), but still funny and highly entertaining movie about having 60's biggest counter-cultural event in your backyard.
Definitely generates that 'wish-i-was-there' feeling. Great soundtrack too !

watched 2010s and soon the darkness starring amber heard(the ward)about 2 teenage girls who become separated from there cycling group while touring argentina, then one of the 2 girls when visiting a hostel in a village is abducted by a local man to be sold in to the sex slave trade and it's down to the remaining girl (amber heard)to try and save the day.
nothing amazing but also not bad either, great scenery of argentina a country not often featured on the big screen.
amber heard is very easy on the eye also.
i'd rate it somewhere between 6.0-7.0/10.

i watched the british prison drama starred up (2013) last night and have got to say it was first rate all round,it's superbly directed by david mackenzie (hallam foe) and has terrific performances from all involved especially lead actor jack o'connell.
it's very grim, very brutal and very realistic(not that i can speak from experience as i've never been inside),but it does feel completely believable and i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who likes a gritty brit flick in the vein of scum (1979).
i'd give it 8.0/10

The last current movie I saw was...The Boy Next Door. It was pretty awful. But, at least I got out of the house. To me ...it was as if they took...Fatal Attraction, Unlawful Entry and the Hand that Rocks the Cradle (which are all good movies)- then stuck those in a blender with the movie- Enough...but they sure didn't spit out a Smoothie.

The reason I didn't like And Soon the Darkness (2010)--despite the attractive actresses--is that the 1970 original is so special and great, a slow-burn, creepy mystery set along one stretch of French roadway on a sunny day. The remake winds up being a violent action film. (Attractive actresses in the original too. )

I've never watched the original crash but I can imagine this remake doesn't even come Close to it,other than some decent eye candy and some interesting location shots of the little seen argentinian countryside it is in all truth a pretty middle of the road sort of flick!
