AMARANTH^ I just got a copy of TOOTHFAIRY. I think The Rock has this magnetic appeal with Moms: We actually LIKE sitting through his movies. Very smart thinking on the filmmakers parts: lets cast a guy Moms will WANT to look at for an hour and a half in these Family Films! (My husband likes him too: thats just 'gravy')
AVATAR was too damn long. THANK YOU! By the end of the movie I turned on them and wanted to watch them all die! It was right around the time my butt fell asleep from sitting on the couch for so long! If someone could edit AVATAR down to an hour and 45 minutes Id give it another shot.
I saw the Made For TV movie GREY GARDENS (Drew Barrymore, Jessica Lange) and really ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would be (those two broads can ACT, Boy!) Now Im interested in finding the 70s Documentary its based on.

We always do a few pre-Christmas visits to the local moving picture house with the kids, and this was the first this year.
Comment is : Last year's first movie was Fred Claus. This year was far better than last year.
Oh - and Martin Short, Alan Arkin and Judge Reinhold were in it, which was cool.
An enjoyable waste of 90 minutes, followed by a very, very spicy pizza......

"The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters," a documentary about two guys squabbling over who has the world's highest score on the arcade game "Donkey Kong." As filmmaking it's terrific--well paced, interesting, and funny. As a documentary, I understand that it's fairly fraudulent in that they fabricated some stuff. As a movie experience, I am in the minority for not going head over heals for it. The guys playing the games who are featured are just so pathetic--a couple of them are about 40 and clearly live in their mommys' basements--that I had a hard time spending an hour and a half with them. I mean, come on now! You get to see a grown man crying because the powers-that-be won't recognize his videogame score! Watch it for the 80's culture.

You're both totally wrong! Those guys were waaaaay cool! If there was an Alien invasion tomorrow, it would be their skills that would save us! The King of Kong even had his own haaaawt Latina wife and a company that made sauce! He rules!
