That's basically my sentiments as well. I myself am also a huge fan, but it's clear from what I've seen from various fan sites that they botched the script and don't care in the least. Perhaps I'll change my mind if they can gross $200 million, would you believe that?
"I find that pretty hard to believe."
"Would you believe $100 million?"
"No."
"How about a dollar and sixteen cents?"

I think the movie looks better than the show. I'm mean c'mon Don Adams (no disrespect RIP) vs. Steve Carell is no comparison. Carell is one of the funniest comedians in a long time IMO............

I want to see it. I'm with Motley...Steve Carrell is a funny guy. So I think it'll be a decent enough movie.

I saw the previous Get Smart theatrical movie, way back in 1980. It was called "The Nude Bomb", and it was a huge disappointment. Other than Don Adams and Robert Karvelas (as Larrabee), there were no other original cast members. Even Agent 99 was not there!
I believe there was a TV-movie in the late-80's called "Get Smart, Again!", but I have not seen it.

Also a short-lived revival series in the mid 90s with Andy **** as Max's equally dimwitted son. Also flat from most respects.
Anyone else who's tried to tackle the material seems to forget the key: Max is competent as an agent, he just executes his work incompetently. That and he cares deeply about what he does. From every respect what we're about to see ignores both of these principles. But at least we now have the Time-Life DVD sets to remember the good times (best fan site on the web: <www.wouldyoubelieve.com>). That and Inspector Gadget episodes on YouTube for those that want the next best thing.
