The title of the article is click bait and there are no plans as of yet but I love The Goonies, I wouldn't care to guess how many times I've seen it, but please don't make a sequel. I think Spielberg is brilliant but if he does show any interest in this I will have to send him a strongly worded email.

What I believe is safe to say is a remake of Goonies is not a guarantee but it wouldn't be a surprise. Capturing and mimicking the feel of an original hardly ever happens with a remake and I think I'd even go as far as saying it is impossible.

I couldn't agree more! The Goonies is a timeless classic that doesn't need a sequel. Some movies are just perfect as they are, and trying to recreate that magic decades later rarely works.

Hi daggerneptune
Welcome to the forum!
This was posted a few years ago, Goonies 2 is now further forward, I created another thread in the 80s forum.
I see your point and agreed with you a few years ago but now it doesn't bother me. I've watched many sequels and remakes over the years, some good and some bad, but I can still watch the original without prejudice.
I know opinions are split between members of the forum as well.
