So I'm just finally getting "Thor" sent to me from Netflix for viewing this weekend. Heard it was excellent, but I'm just a bit stubborn it seems because in my mind... the real Thor still works at Dawson's Garage!
But then I saw a little snippet recently on "Avengers" which totally reminded me of the "Super Friends" cartoon that I watched as a kid. Oh and apparently by 80'sRocked's once a year posting about his Halloween costume, he seems to remember "Super Friends" as well. Totally different group of comic book characters teaming up "The Avengers", but similar idea.
So Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America have all been introduced in their own movies and are now joining up with their fellow Avengers in one of the biggest comic book to movies of all time.
Joss Whedon from TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-writes and directs this Marvel team-up that has Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Evans joining Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) as they try to stop Thor’s angry brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his army from destroying Earth.
Maybe we should have a DC Comics vs Marvel Comics showdown for the sequel!

'The Avengers' was the Marvel comics equivalent of DC's 'The Justice League'.
I've found all the super-hero movies leading up to this to be disappointing even though they all seemed to get good reviews (Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, etc). They seem to 'rush' through the stories and under-use the rich array of characters from the Marvel universe.
I'll be interested in your opinion of Thor.

Logan.. I'm gonna watch "Thor" this weekend, but I've seen both "Ironman" flicks and it was a mixed bag for me.
Really enjoyed the first film mainly because of Robert Downey Jr., however I was totally disappointed in the second film.. maybe it was a bad night for me, but it didn't keep my attention.
Was "Justice League" an updated version of "Super Friends"? I had heard rumors of a "Justice League" movie?

I'm useless with commercials - they all look alike to me; portentous, overblown lines of dialogue, and a series of explosions. I can never tell if a film looks good or bad. Still interested in seeing it!

Super Friends was the kid-friendly cartoon version of The Justice League. It didn't have much to do with the comics. Like 'Spiderman and His Amazing Friends' in the 80's - it was a promotional tool for the characters and the company which bore no resemblance to the ongoing comic series.

Justice League is a great comic book. I especially like the series that started in 1986 written by Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis with art by Kevin Maguire. Great art, lots of action and what´s most important: quirky humor.
Avengers thread just turned into a Justice League thread

Then the Marvel fans return and say... "what are these losers doing in the Avengers thread?!"
'Green Lantern' sucked badly. DC should've gone with the Flash as their first foray into big-budget movies post Supes and Batman.

I'm stoked to see "The Avengers" that opens here May 4th. With Zak Penn and Joss Whedon combining forces, I'm expecting a story with a few fun twists to it.
Also, excited to watch Mark Ruffalo take his turn as The Hulk. He was so good in the movie "13 Going On 30"!
With this cast .. we should be in for one wicked ride!
Oh and Petty.. we've known Thor for years ... I had to remind Ronnie of that too when she got back from the theater still drooling over the new Thor.. but I think she finally remembered after putting on her Thor helmet she must have had in storage and watching "Adventures In Babysitting" again.

Finally watched The Avengers and i liked it. Not a classic but a very good action film. The SHIELD flying aircraft carrier fight was the highlight when it comes to action. We have seen Manhattan destroyed so many times that the final battle was a bit meh.
Scarlett Johansson was very sexy and i like Tom Hiddleston more and more. Mark Ruffalo did a good job as Banner/Hulk. Downey Jr. was good like he always is but maybe he had too many jokes this time.
Marvel Cinematic Universe Timeline tells me that i must check out Iron Man 3 next.
