Hilarious comedy-noir / broad Hollywood satire from 'Lethal Weapon' scribe Shane 'Hawkins' Black (making his directorial debut). Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Jr. make for the best on screen duo since Vince Vaughn and John Faverau in 'Swingers' & 'Made'
Kilmer's excellent sense of comic-timing is well known to 80s fans whilst Robert Downey Jr.'s performance (playing Harry, a petty thief mistaken for a method actor) harks back to his memorable comic turns in James Toback's 'Two Girls & A Guy' and 'Black & White'. Val Kilmer often steals the show as Gay Perry, an L.A. cop tapped to teach Downey Jr. the ropes on an acting gig. Kilmer's dry sense of humour is excellent as both leads spar like a latter-day Abbot & Costello.
Harmony: "Well, for starters, she's been ****ed more times than she's had a hot meal". Harry: "Yeah, I heard about that. It was neck-and-neck and then she skipped lunch".
Hot Woman: "So what do you do?" Harry: "Uh, I'm retired. I invented dice as a kid"

Hadn't saw this one in awhile. It may get a much deserved movie night watching pretty soon. Great performances by both Kilmer and Downey Jr......

It's a shame that more people haven't heard of this gem of a film. Even Shannon Sossoman played a good, if small, role.
