To have it any other way, of course, would not be logical.

My son saw the trailer for this and asked me what I thought of Star Trek. I only every watched The Wrath of Kahn-and a few TV episodes. I was never crazy about it. The preview for this movie looks kind of neat. Who's the guy playing Kirk? He looks familiar.

Looks excellent apart from the opening scene where he drives the car off the cliff. I will definitely go see this.

Let's hope they move swiftly (and boldly) past his early childhood.
Anyway - that sure didn't look like Iowa to me....

Looks OK, Great Mr Spock casting. Isis, a great new actor called Chris Pine plays Cpt. Kirk, first saw him in excellent action-comedy 'Smokin’ Aces' where he was almost unrecognisable as the ringleader of a trio of neo-Nazis.
J.J Abram's directing style is hit n' miss: bit flat IMO, slick but soulless; like a wobbly Ridley Scott. Not too keen on origin stories per say, just hope its as well written as the original episodes, though I am disappointed Pine's not acting like Smayt's father: "IIIIII'm...looking-forward-to-it".

Eric Bana looks awful Bald....with his hair, he looks like a friend of mine who was my chiropractor.
They cast people good with the looks part...if they can act-then it might actually be good.

It was a great movie Mr Jack Burton, thing is, I used to watch it so often back in the day, that I haven't seen it in years: but I can call a nod at 100 paces, remember in 'Blade' when he uses that serum on the vampire and he inflates? pure John Carpenter.

Take a look at Eric Bana in the picture above. Look at his eyes. Is it just me, or, does he kind of remind you of Corey Feldman?

I've watched all 3 remakes again recently, I thought they were all good, I am aware that the Star Trek purists don't like Into Darkness, it wasn't a storyline that is in keeping with Gene Rodddenberry's vision of Star Trek but I did enjoy it for what it was.
My favourite by far was Star Trek 2009, I remember seeing it for the first time in the cinema and thought it was incredible.
The addition of Beastie Boys tracks was a bonus 😀
The cast were all excellent including Anton Yelchin as Chekov, just a real shame we lost him at such a young age.
