Now i don't know what started me thinking about this, maybe i am getting old or something but at 36 i hope not. But as we all come on this site because we love 80's movies etc,if you had the chance to go back in time would you.Now i don't mean like go back for a few days i am talking about go back to a particular point in time and live your life again from that moment onwards. The difference would be that you would also still be aware that you were living these moments again so would you still make the same mistakes again or would you do things very differently.

Im 38 and I REALLLLY noticed my lat birthday that I was "starting to feel old", so I guess there are little age frames where you start to have a little mid-life crises ( I had one around 32 or 33 too).
Even though there are things I would do differentkly if I could I wouldnt want to go back because I have an 11 year old daughter and Im a big believer in "the butterfly effect". Whose to say doing ONE thing different in the 80s wouldnt totally change who I ended up marrying and the baby I ended up having so the answer is NO

See now thats a good answer because for most people there are things in their modern life that they would never trade. Also as you say the whole knock on effect would be enormous.
Now for me if i had a chance the time i would go back to would be about 1985,because this is the sort of time that i started getting interested in things that i think really helped mould those informative years. To start with i started to skate properly and this was a pass time my friends and i used to really enjoy and it would end up with us traveling all over the south of England. But i think the main reason is time seemed to be more innocent and we were all a little less self obsessed with everything.

Hard to say. I think I'd go back and invest in Microsoft. I could keep all my valuable friends quite easily even if I changed the course of my life.
So... yes; but only to get rich.

I'm pretty happy in my life right now, so I probably wouldn't risk going back. There are times when I crave the 80's and dream about going back for periods of time...just to capture that "don't gotta worry bout nothin' feeling". It would be nice to experience some of your favorite 80's movies again for the first time. But like logan5, I'd be making some pretty serious investments. On a smaller scale investment, I remember my Dad taking me to the mall because Star Wars figures were on sale for $1...which was still a great deal at that time. When we got there, it was one giant bin filled with the same figure (Yoda)...I didn't even buy one cause I already had it...ouch...like a hundred mint carded Yodas! I'd re-sell them before eBay came along of course!

I still have a 1985 Yak Face Star Wars figure which is worth a few quid because it was never released in the States and a Snaggletooth figure.
Also still have most of the original space ships with boxes and the complete collection of Kenner original issue figure just not all packaged.

Just the thought of that bin with the Yoda's makes my mouth water! Last Star Wars figures I can remember being sold: Ree Yees / Klaatu / Lando (Jabba's Palace). Last ships: Speeder Bikes / Rebel Transport.

You'll get yours. I'll send you a big fat cheque! You, of course, will have no idea why!

As much as I love the 80's and wish I could relive some of it again. At this point, I wouldn't risk going back either. I've lived an incredible life and even though my youth is slipping away .. I have the money and vacation time to enjoy things like never before.
Check back when I turn 70 for a different answer.. ha

There was a moment a few years ago when I was asked a question - the answer to which set two people on very different paths.
Lets just say that if I could go back to THAT day, I would have answered it differently........

The only problem being that the hard bitten cynic of 2010 wouldn't appreciate those moments now lovingly preserved in the amber sap of nostalgia. Thus it'd be a purely commercial, possibly megalomaniac, enterprise this time travel not a holiday or a literal trip down memory lane.
But I'm over thinking a simple question: so yes, why not, I mean, what's the worst that could happen?

I would definately go back!!! No question about it. For a few reasons 1. Stop my sister and brother from dying 2. Tell Hayle Mudge in grade 6 that i loved her 3. Punch a guy named Nick in the face for bullying me 4. Enter more running races 5. Listen to my dad more 6. kick that penalty kick again i missed in an important game. I should have gone right not left. 7. And finally . . .the age 10-16 was the best in my life and i do think of it fondly from time to time. To quote a great line from stand by me that richard dreyfus types on his computer.... 'Ive never had the friends like i did when i was 10 yrs old . . .Jesus, does anyone'?

Thats what made the music so valuable - you couldnt just get hold of it within seconds by downloading or watching youtube or using spotify. You either had to save or wait for you favourite song to come on the radio and press record on the tape player. i remember doing that for one night in bangkok on a saturday back in 1985 - now i can just 'click' and bam its playing.
