I was talking to Cindymancini last night, and I love talking to her about clothes, because she can remember the styles of the stuff, and remembers what malls were like shopping in them in the 80's. I still have dreams about what my closet looked like in the 80's, and how many different pairs of shoes I had, how many dresses I had, how many pair of jeans, and dress pants, and mini skirts, and jackets, and blazers of all different colors, angora sweaters, and argyle sweaters, and me and Cindy were talking about the styles of the shoes, like the dress shoes we wore, and how they looked nice with dress clothes, or just with jeans, and how cute shoes were, and how you can't find a pair of cute shoes today to save your life. I hate shopping for clothes. I wear preppy shirts most of the time and jeans. Today I have a red preppy shirt on, I have Gloria Vanderbuilt jeans on, and white and red Nikes on. Which to me is kind of 80's. I was looking around earlier for my hair combs I use to have a billion different colors of, and in the 80's, I would have red hair combs pulling up the sides of my hair, and probably red earrings on to match...and now I wear the same pair of gold hoop earrings all the time, I never change around my jewelry very much and I wish I did.
Don't other people think it really stinks to try and find nice clothes any more? I am always looking to see what other people are wearing, and so far I always see t-shirts and jeans. I never see men dressed really nice. I liked how Paul Newman looked in Harry & Son, he had a buttoned up white shirt on that the top couple buttons were un done, and he had tan dress pants on, and a belt, and he was really tan, and he had his hair styled real nice, and he was a nice looking older man. I look at men now, and they have their beer gutt hanging out, and their pants are falling off their rear end, and they look like they are wearing their lunch on the front of their t-shirt, and they all shave their heads, and then wear a ball cap, and they have sneakers on-I rarely see men wearing dress shoes. At least around here I don't. My husband dresses up for work every day, and he always looks really professional, but when I look at him compared to the men I see picking their kids up at the school, or in the stores, or in restaurants...I don't see guys dressing very well at all. I honestly think men have let themselves really go worse than women have...men don't seem to mind having the extra weight on their bodies, you see some younger men who work out and take care of themselves still, and they are in ok shape...but alot of men are really looking pretty dumpy looking. Where to me, in the 80's...even average looking men were better looking than the men of today...they styled their hair, they dressed real nice, they worked out, and they cared about themselves alot more.

Yeah I miss alot of the variation that existed back in the day. I agree with the jewelry thing. You don't see alot of colored earings anymore or bracelets and stuff. As for my attire at this moment here goes:
White long sleeve tee from Old Navy Victoria Secret jeans My grey, green and yellow Puma sneakers (love these!) Silver hoop earings and a ponytail

Today I am wearing a navy blue Tom Hilfiger short sleeved shirt and Levi jeans, and white and navy blue Cortez style nikes, and my hair is in a pny tail too. I was out working in my flower garden most of the day.
My neighbor boy went to the Prom last night, and he just came over now to visit and I was looking at the girls dresses in the pictures, and they look really cheaply made, and nobody had on panty hose, they had like sandel type shoes on...and the girls legs all looked white and you could see bruises on their legs, and I wondered what happened to pantyhose?? I know my own cousin wore flip flops to the prom...she had her hair done nice, and wore a pretty dress- but she had this big black peace sign necklace on with these nice antique earrings and nice dress...and I thought the next and shoes were stupid. How come they don't make high heeled shoes like the kind I remember...All the high heels have a really terrible point in the front and make people look like their toes are squashed in to a triangle.

I'm wearing black jeans and a red Van Halen shirt.
Interesting thing about the shirt: I picked it up at the Jersey Shore in 2004. The shirt was for the local crew that worked on Van Halen's 1995-1996 world tour. I picked up for 10 dollars, I believe.
Pretty cool, huh?
Sincerely,
John Kilduff

I thought this was pretty cool, a good friend of mine...her neice made her own Prom dress and her boyfriend's blazer and hat and tie, out of Starburst candy bar wrappers...It was on the front page of the paper today. My friend invited me to go see her Friday night, but I couldn't go cause my Dad was here, but she wants to go to fashion school to be a designer..She colored her hair all different colors...she definately looked like a Rainbow. It was so cool looking.
