Do you guys remember them?? I just started thinking about them, because me and my mom were asked to feed baby lambs for a friend of ours who has a farm, she is a wildlife biologist, and she works all day, but she raises "Shelties" which are mini collies, and she raises sheep, and her sheep just had babies and some of the mom's can't nurse them, so we went today and learned how to do it, so they stay healthy and don't die.
Oh my gosh are they the cutiest things too. And they are so cuddly, and it is so hard for me...because I like animals so much, and she raises them and sells them for meat...and I can not get that out of my head, so all I keep seeing are visions of Sheri Lewis and Willie E. Coyote dancing through my head, because they were on both ends of the sheep spectrum.
I want to steal all her lambs now, cause I know the fate of them. It is rather depressing, but I don't want to see them die of starvation either.
I remember watching Sheri Lewis and Lamb Chop more so when my son was little than when I was, but I know they were on TV forever, and I never remember Sheri Lewis ever having any other kind of hair style than that short perm. I know she died several years ago of cancer.

That brought back memories of my posting last summer about Australian basketball player Tully Bevilaqua's recipe for lamb roast. At least on that one, we knew what the fate of those lambs were, heh heh.

These sheep are called: Katahdin Sheep...they aren't the kind you get wool from, they are strictly to eat. I have never had mutton in my life time...not ever...I have a hard enough time eating meat now, cause I was a vegetarian for over 10 years. So, it really gets me. But, the girl I am doing it for.. thinks that if you love the animals and you don't feed them chemicals, then the people who eat them will be healthier... and that's all a nice thought...but I'd rather just skip it.
I just can't see how people eat a lamb...it might drive me crazy if I put too much thought in to it...

When I was in the hosiptal after I gave birth to my daughter I had on the news and they announed that Shari Lewis had died. I cryed! It was just so depressing for me. I don't know if you knew she had a "new" show that ran in the 90s. My sisters kids used to watch it and since I baysat them I watched it too. (I think it was called LAMBCHOP'S PLAYALONG but I might be wrong). It was so cute, they sang and told corny jokes. I was so upset my baby wasn't ever going to see it cuz Sahri had died. My nephew, I guess he was about nine or ten at the time, said "Why couldnt it be Mr Rogers???" (I guess he liked Shari's show better!) Well, needless to say a few years later Mr Rogers passed too. Another sad day! Weird question: Did they bury Lambchop with Shari Lewis???

I remember watching Shari and Lambchop on "The Nanny", it was a great episode where Chester the dog ate Lambchop.
Maybe that goes to show that lambs are meant to be eaten, bwahahahaha

I don't know if I can do this whole thing with the lambs. I don't even eat that much meat.
I keep thinking of Jody Foster talking about the slaughtering of the lambs-in Silence of the Lambs, and today I took my mom to lunch...I ate broccoli soup and french fries. I barely do eat red meat ever. Like maybe once every week..I have a little bit.
But, my mom went out and fed them this morning without me, cause I was busy doing something, but when we were at lunch...I told her I didn't know if I could wrap my head around it, and have this cute little animal sitting in my lap, and giving it a baby bottle of food, knowing I am fattening it up to be someone's lamb chomps...that they are going to chew up and then they will end up in the toilet somewhere. That just freaks me out.
I watched once on tv them doing a documentary in a slaughterhouse and I was so distraught over it, I don't know why I did that to myself. But, I am in a dilemma about what to do about this whole thing. If they were sheep that were raised for wool, it would so easy on me.

I loved Lamb Chop as a kid, and Charlie Horse almost as much. That was like my favorite show. I actually saw Lamb Chop puppets for sale at Hot Topic, it was so cute. But what an unfortunate name.
