This album was the reason that hair metal took off. Definitely one of the few albums that I would give a "Perfect Album Side" to (Now that's a good topic). The first side (1-6) had nothing but great songs, all released, and all MTV hits. It didn't matter that Love Bites was the only #1, these songs were great, from 1987 - through the middle of 89. I have grown to love the second side over the years, and still haven't listened to the last song on the album.
With 7 released songs, and most of the other songs getting air play to this day, Hysteria was also voted "Album of the 80's" on MTV's Rate the 80's, back in 89. (Man I'm old)
Rating... It's not a ten because of "Love and Affection" so I'm going to go with 9.95!!! Possibly the highest grade that I will give any album. I don't know, I'm trying to think of one that is proportionally better, (other than the beatles).
Need to own... Well I have it on Tape and CD.
A total must.
